21st Transmission [Video/Written/Action] (Forward Dated to March 17)

[Well it's about that time of year, when the weather begins to shift and it's beginning to get to the point where cultivating and preparing to for planting season is becoming a necessity. And to get all this started, Luke needs your help. He opens up the journal and smiles at the camera.]

Good afternoon Luceti,

For those of you that don't know me, my name is Luke Skywalker. For the last couple of years I've been tending to some of the farmlands outside the village, trying to build up emergency stores as well as bringing a bit of self-sufficiency to the enclosure. And as some of you may know, within the last year both Nami and Applejack have both departed, leaving the orchards near the farmland untended. I've been tending to them as best I can, but the vast majority of the help I had with the work has also returned home.

In the interest of better utilizing the space I'd like to request the help of anyone willing to volunteer their time with a bit of manual labor. I'm afraid it's simply not going to be possible to manage it all by myself, and any help would be greatly appreciated. It's beginning to near the planting season, after all. I'm happy to offer whatever services I can provide in exchange.

[There's a pause, and he seems to look somewhere off camera.]

On a related note, if there's anyone who knows anything about building irrigation systems, I'd appreciate any advice.

[Definitely calling you back, then! Luke smiles gently at the camera, doing his best to be a nice guy, because hey the kid is obviously new.]

Hey there, Red. I've got a lot of work that needs doing, and there are definitely some thorns starting to crop up around the orchards. If your friend could help me with that, I'd really appreciate it.

And I'd be happy to show you what I need done. Whenever it's convenient for you, of course.

I can come whenever you want! Um, whenever's convenient for you, I guess. [Since he said that.] I'm not really doing anything important.

Well, I'm heading up there in a few minutes, if you're free. I can show you around and you can see what you'd be up for doing.

Though, it's a bit of a hike, fair warning.

No problem! I walked everywhere until I got a bike!

But, my friend's still sleeping, so he can't come today. But I've got another who can help!

Oh that's no problem. This is a long term project.

Mind if I ask who your friend is?

Sure! The sleeping one's Snorlax, and the one coming with me is Saur. They're my pokémon.

[Luke's eyebrows flicker with recognition]

Ah, alright. Yes, if they're willing to help with the farm that'd be...a little bit like coming full circle actually.

Full circle? What d'you mean?

Well, when I first started organizing this a couple of years ago, an associate of mine named Giovanni used his pokemon to help soften up the soil. And when he left, a man named Lance helped maintain the orchards, and planted a bunch of berries there.

So, I guess you could say pokemon have been behind so much of this project.

[That's actually... pretty cool to hear. And inspiring? Or is the word motivating? Because hearing of two pokémon trainers working on this before him (Lance? didn't that name sound familiar?) sure added some kind of desire towards helping with this project.

And maybe it even shows on his face when he nods.]

Me and my pokémon won't let them down. We'll help make it the best it's ever been!

[Luke grins at the boy. It's heartwarming in a way, and the fact that it's so connected with these strange creatures is really something else. Luke won't ever really forget the psychic conversation he'd had with a Dragonite, or Giovanni's explanations, since gangster or not the guy had been alright.]

I'm glad to hear it. I admit I'm not overly familiar with Pokemon, but I've seen a few different species. So, I have to say I'm interested in learning more about them.

[If only Red knew Giovanni's name when he'd met him. Not that he could imagine that guy doing any good!!]

I can tell you anything you wanna know! I don't know everything yet, but I'm training to be Kanto's greatest trainer, so I've been learning a lot!

[Luke can't help but grin at the enthusiasm. It's infectious]

How many different species are there, if you'll indulge me while I head to the fountain.

[Already walking, of course.]

[And he'll pick himself up from where he was, not really thinking about it beyond knowing they'd spoken about meeting up. No fancy mind tricks necessary on this one. His noggin' is occupied, with Luke asking the most hardest question of all pokémon related questions (actually, no. Red just opened his mouth too wide and now he's gotta deal with it).]

Umm, well... [He's trying to think, but...]

Nobody knows that! People think there's a hundred and fifty, but some people think there's even more.

[Luke has no idea. But, hey, counting species is hard, after all.]

Well, I'd certainly believe that. There are thousands of species of sentients where I'm from alone, and that's not counting creatures like pokemon. I think I've only run into about eight or nine different ones here, though.

Of pokémon? That's nothing! I could name that many pokémon right now!

[And he will.] Pidgey, rattata, spearow, dodrio, oddish, bulbasaur, charmander, squirtle and eevee. There!

And eevee? Eevee can evolve into three different types of pokémon!

Well, they're not really native to my world. I've run into only a few here.

How many have you, personally, encountered?

Umm, about... sixty? I don't remember, but I've caught more than fifty! I know that because the professor I'm helping's assistant gave me something for catching that many recently.

That professor wouldn't happen to be named Oak, would it?

Yeah, that's right! How do you know him?

He was here for a while, too. I spoke to him a bit.

Huh? Really? When?

Was he okay?

About a year ago, and he seemed to be alright.

I don't remember the professor disappeari--woah!

[Whoops, too much not looking where one is going. But that's okay, looking down off screen.-] Thanks.

[Anyway.] I don't remember him disappearing.

[Luke blinks, but since the boy's obviously not hurt, he doesn't comment.]

You wouldn't remember him disappearing. He'd have vanished and returned in the same instant, as far as your world goes. Time moves differently here, so while he may have been here a month or two, he'd have been gone in the time it takes you to blink where you're from.
