9th Transmission: Walking a mile in another Jedi's shoes [Action/Voice]

Groaning, Luke Skywalker rolled over in the warm sun of an early morning. Sitting up, he squeezed the bridge of his nose, blinking all around him. He was out by the lake, and he was still in Luceti. All he could remember was being woken from sleep by a loud banging at his window, and then blackness. Something felt off, that was sure, but he wasn't sure what. Shakily, he got to his feet and dazedly made his way over to the lake.

As he...looked into the lake, her jaw dropped, eyes widening. A female face stared back with the same shocked look, clad in New Feather garb. A familiar face, that of Grandmaster Sunrider, greeted him. To his further surprise the reflection began to speak, echoing through his mind. When it finished, things were a lot clearer. And so was her mind. Turning away from the water, Nomi Sunrider stared at the journal on the ground in front of her. Deep in the back of their mind, Luke Skywalker nodded in agreement. There wasn't much else to be done, if Luke was to be in control it would tax both of them. He knew she'd slipped him into a trance to spare him the pain of experimentation, and now she was willing to take his responsibilities until whatever the Malnosso had done could be undone.

Taking the journal, Nomi opened it up and Luke sent out a message in a distinctly...female voice. They agreed that not everyone needed to know what was going on...at least right away.

[Voice]
"Greetings residents of Luceti. This is Luke Skywalker, and...I'm having a bit of a situation. I was taken by the Malnosso, and I'm feeling a little weak. I am out by the lake, and if anyone could bring a spare suit of clothing, some water, and some pain killers I would be in your debt."

Later that afternoon, and all week, Luke/Nomi can be found around the village. Its pretty weird, even for a Jedi, so...expect lots of confusion and mostly to be speaking to Nomi. Feel free to poke at them throughout the week, just denote a day.

[Hurrying, hurrying; which leaves her voice just the slightest bit breathless.]

I remember talking with Luke... [Or more specifically, Luke mentioning he was worried about something else in his mind.] I think he must have been referring to you.

[Which makes her really wish, for a moment, that Luke could tell her more himself, so she'd know how to treat the person in front of her.]

Yes, he was. I apologize for that. My name is Nomi Sunrider, and like Luke I am a Jedi Knight. He and I...have switched places for the moment, it seems. He's in my mind as I was in his.

[She notes the breathlessness and smiles appreciatively]

Please, be careful not to overdo it yourself, Ms. Mizuno.

[Luckily, she's in good shape; it's just more the hurry and confusion.]

I understand. Then you're a member of the Order, too.

But I wonder how the Malnosso did that, bringing the consciousness of both, in one body...

A different Order, but yet. We are from nearly 5,000 years apart, which makes quite a difference in Galactic history.

[And if there could be a verbal shrug, Nomi just did it]

I have no idea how they did it. I imagine its related to Shifting, though.

It's a long span of time. [Even for many races beyond human.]

But I wonder if it was really shifting. We might overlook something important if we assume that all their abilities relate to that.

[Oh, but she shouldn't be letting herself get distracted- and soon she won't, because she's just about to the lake.]

I'm almost there. Which way shall I go?

We could be wrong. Though, that would mean that they physically altered Luke's body. I hope this is not the case.

[She stands up]

I'm within sight of the lake house. Look for the red-headed woman in a white dress.

[levity never hurt anyone]

I see the house! -and I think I see you now.

[Instead of drawing attention to herself or signalling, Ami hurries closer. She approaches Nomi, and gives a slight bow by habit; it's hard to look at Nomi and think of her as the same as Luke.]

I brought everything you asked for.

[Nomi stands, returning the bow with a deep one of her own, hands clasped together in gratitude]

I greatly appreciate it, Ami. I apologize, too, if my presence makes you feel uncomfortable. I know you are close to Luke, so this must be jarring for you.

No, that's not- [But it is, a little bit. It's not that Nomi herself bothers Ami, but the idea of replacing Luke does.]

You're right; it's surprising. But I understand it isn't your fault. It was the Malnosso that caused it.

It is, and I know that it is. Luke...well, he wants to tell you something.

[Nomi holds out her hand, indicating that Ami should take it]

Unfortunately, our powers were drained, so he cannot project at the moment. Please, take it.

[A bit uncertainly, Ami looks down at her hand before finally extending it, and taking hold of Nomi's.]

Luke? [It feels strange looking at someone else and calling out to him; she has a brief memory of Chiba Mamoru gripping the princess and calling out to Usagi.

She's lucky this situation is different.]

[Luke's face forms in Ami's mind, smiling and kind as usual. If it was anyone else, he wouldn't have bothered, but Ami deserves an explanation]

Ami? I'm sorry that I'm worrying you right now. I'm alright. Really. In a few days, I'll be able to project myself through the Force. But you mustn't worry. Grandmaster Sunrider is someone you can trust. She's a great Jedi, and for the moment...it appears that we've been switched. I'm sure like all the experiments it will end with time, when the Malnosso grow tired of it. In the meantime, treat her like you would a friend, ok?

I understand it's not your fault or your intention. You don't need to apologize. And of course I'll try to get along with Grandmaster Sunrider.

[It's just a confusing situation all around; but she's seen enough strange affects from the Malnosso to have confidence it will wear off with time, and if Luke is vouching for Nomi, then the time ahead is unlikely to be dangerous because of the switch. Good.]

I hope you can. She is most wise.

[And with that, the image fades out. Nomi retracts her hand, looking visibly paler than she had before]

I...shouldn't do that again for a few days.

Here- have some of the water. [It should at least help... a little. She wishes she'd brought juice.] Sit down awhile until you're feeling better. You can try the clothes in a few minutes. [Ami's attention is all on Nomi. It helps, actually, giving her concrete things to focus on.]

[Shaking a bit, Nomi accepts the water and takes a long drink and sits back down on the grass]

I...thank you. Again, I apologize. This situation is most unusual.

[Ami sits just after Nomi, with a shake of her head.]

It really is fine. Instead, I feel sorry you've been brought into Luceti. If you need anything while this lasts, I'll try to help if I can.

I appreciate that a lot.

[Nomi smiles, a wistful look in her eye]

I can see why Luke is so very fond of you.

We've known each other since awhile ago. We were both drafted together in a different battle. After that, I suppose we started to become friends.

Yes, I have some vague recollection of these events. I'm not sure when I started to wake up, but it was some time around then.

Then... could it be you're aware of everything that's happened to him in Luceti? [That... is potentially somewhat embarrassing if she lets Valentine's Day come into her mind.]

Yes, I remember most of it.

[Yep, Valentine's included]

Its nothing to worry about, I am fully aware that you were not yourself.

Ah, that- The Malnosso sometimes... change how we act towards each other.

[Except she's not entirely sure it's just the Malnosso. Oh, it definitely had been back then - she hadn't even known him well - but since then, she's come to know him.]

I understand, Ami. But there is more to the story than that, yes?

[Nomi smiles at her mischievously. She knows, and she knows what Luke knows...]

Ah- no, not really. [She gives a smile that comes off somewhat shy, ducking the question to the best of her ability. It's a futile effort, when Nomi's already seen everything, but she can't make herself own up to it.]
