thefinaljedi | 11th Transmission: Seasonal Shifts [Video/Action] (Action Forward Dated Oct. 13)

[In the mid-morning Luke broadcasts a Video feed through the journal system. He stands squarely in front of the camera and speaks in a clear voice. It was a simple, fairly quick message that was open to anyone willing to listen. The seasons were changing and the first real cold snap couldn't be too far away. That meant...harvest time.]

Good morning everyone, this is Luke Skywalker and like usual I've got quite a lot of things to address. Please bear with me, this might get a little lengthy.

First, as this New Feather Cycle comes to a close I would like to welcome every newcomer to our little purgatory. I know things may seem confusing, and I'd like to offer my help to anyone that needs it. I'm willing to help however I can to make your transition as easy as I can, should you require medical assistance, need help moving heavy things, or even just need someone to talk to, feel free to contact me.

Secondly, I would like to thank Doctor Eggman for his instrumental assistance with the farm. He has been an invaluable help towards keeping everything watered and growing smoothly. His hard work has kept the farm running while I have been preoccupied.

Third, if anyone is available to help this weekend, I would greatly appreciate assistance in bringing in the final harvest of the farm's produce. We managed to actually grow quite a lot, and I'd like to make sure it all gets brought in before the frosts set in. I'll be out there all day on Saturday, and while I have some mechanical aid, more hands or hooves would definitely speed the process up quite a bit. Related to that, the food harvested will be added to shops, as well as preserved and stored where we can manage to find room. I've always felt that it's better to have too much food set aside for emergencies than just enough. [He chuckles]

Finally, I'd like to close with a question, as so many people often do. How do people prepare for winter in your world? I admit that this will be my second winter in Luceti but I've never actually been present for a seasonal shift from autumn to winter. I'm from a desert world, so we have very little in the way of actual winter weather.

Action:

[Saturday, Luke and Eggman are out and about at the farm, doing their best to collect the harvest with a small flotilla of heavily modified training remotes that have Eggman-style arms attached to pick things. Eggman, of course, is doing zero manual labor, but he's programming robots and maintaining them. A Bantha with large buckets is used to transport the food to the village for storage and consumption, as well as a repulsor-sled. If anyone wants to help with the harvest, the Jedi and the Inventor would definitely appreciate the help.]

(OOC: Tag wherever you'd like and if its an action portion feel free to tag around or thread hop like its a log. I can't promise I'll answer every harvest tag with Luke, but I will try. If you'd like to handwave that your character helped harvest, thats fine too! Lets get all Harvest Moon up inz!)

Mm... [But the agreement sounds distracted for just a second before she shares the thought.]

You know, I remember when Luceti didn't have anything like electricity at all. We've begun using more and more technology since then.

I've heard about that time, actually. From Raine. Why did the Malnosso give us electricity? Do you know?

I don't think we know their true motives for anything they do, including that. It may have been in hopes of making us more docile, if we can come to believe they can act as our benefactors.

Except we've only resisted them since day one. I cannot imagine that the thought that would be any different.

They have no regard for us at best, and they're our enemy at worst. They believe the smallest gesture should make us obedient.

[She's learned some hard lessons in her time here.]

I don't know about that, entirely. None of them are our friends, but some of them have at least shown some measure of regard. Of course that could be a means to manipulate us.

All I know for sure is that they are not all in agreement.

[Too much has happened here for her to justify, or look kindly at the Malnosso. She has no intention of causing harm to them, unless it can't be avoided to allow the people to be free of them; but beyond that, she has no love for them.]

That's right. We should exploit those factions. We may be able to make more progress ourselves that way.

[There is no love lost there for Luke either. He might feel bad about hurting them eventually, but there's no other choice]

Definitely. And we should be careful about threats from within too.

Most of us here should understand that it's futile to carry any battles or grudges from our worlds into Luceti. Nothing would be accomplished. It's better to work towards escape, first.

[Luke throws up a filter, and he asks a question that's come up a lot lately.]

How do you feel about dealing with this...Loki character?

I think he understands there's no point in carrying a battle or war to Luceti. We have a common purpose instead, all of us. [She takes Luke's meaning immediately; and she's willing to believe Loki may not be a threat.]

Ami-chan, what sort of god is Loki? I don't know mythology from Earth, but Steve tells me that's what he is.

He's a god of mischief. [And she's fully aware of that when she talks with him, and takes what he says with a grain of salt through that filter.]

Is he now? Well that is interesting. It certainly changes things from my perspective, anyway.

[Luke pauses. He implicitly trusts Ami at this point.]

He and I have been sharing information, and may yet conduct an experiment of sorts.

What sort of experiment would it be?

Before I tell you, I want to ask you to keep it secret. It's only a hypothesis, and very likely nothing. Can you do that for me?

I won't say anything, if you don't want me to. [She's definitely becoming more interested by the moment, though. What has Luke thought about?]

We want to ask some New Feathers to allow us to scan them, with Artoo or Spock's detection devices, and then compare the results to people who've been in the enclosure for a while.

Its...possible Shifts leave a permanent mark on individuals, and we want to see if that's true.

I'd be interested in knowing the results. Please share them with me. I'd also be willing to participate. There might be a discrepancy in people who've left and returned, like I did.

That was my line of thinking exactly. Once we've established a control from a few New Feathers, I'd like to compare results with older residents as well. Yourself included because of your return, and your...extended stay.

I'd be happy to do that. [Ignoring just how long it's been is something she can't always do. She knows that.]

Good. I think it'd be a big help. I'm not sure if its true or not, but we'll see won't we?

Do you have enough people? Something like this should use as large a sample size as possible. [Yet she can't think of many people who've left and returned, or been here over the course of years.]
