11th Transmission: Seasonal Shifts [Video/Action] (Action Forward Dated Oct. 13)

[In the mid-morning Luke broadcasts a Video feed through the journal system. He stands squarely in front of the camera and speaks in a clear voice. It was a simple, fairly quick message that was open to anyone willing to listen. The seasons were changing and the first real cold snap couldn't be too far away. That meant...harvest time.]

Good morning everyone, this is Luke Skywalker and like usual I've got quite a lot of things to address. Please bear with me, this might get a little lengthy.

First, as this New Feather Cycle comes to a close I would like to welcome every newcomer to our little purgatory. I know things may seem confusing, and I'd like to offer my help to anyone that needs it. I'm willing to help however I can to make your transition as easy as I can, should you require medical assistance, need help moving heavy things, or even just need someone to talk to, feel free to contact me.

Secondly, I would like to thank Doctor Eggman for his instrumental assistance with the farm. He has been an invaluable help towards keeping everything watered and growing smoothly. His hard work has kept the farm running while I have been preoccupied.

Third, if anyone is available to help this weekend, I would greatly appreciate assistance in bringing in the final harvest of the farm's produce. We managed to actually grow quite a lot, and I'd like to make sure it all gets brought in before the frosts set in. I'll be out there all day on Saturday, and while I have some mechanical aid, more hands or hooves would definitely speed the process up quite a bit. Related to that, the food harvested will be added to shops, as well as preserved and stored where we can manage to find room. I've always felt that it's better to have too much food set aside for emergencies than just enough. [He chuckles]

Finally, I'd like to close with a question, as so many people often do. How do people prepare for winter in your world? I admit that this will be my second winter in Luceti but I've never actually been present for a seasonal shift from autumn to winter. I'm from a desert world, so we have very little in the way of actual winter weather.

Action:

[Saturday, Luke and Eggman are out and about at the farm, doing their best to collect the harvest with a small flotilla of heavily modified training remotes that have Eggman-style arms attached to pick things. Eggman, of course, is doing zero manual labor, but he's programming robots and maintaining them. A Bantha with large buckets is used to transport the food to the village for storage and consumption, as well as a repulsor-sled. If anyone wants to help with the harvest, the Jedi and the Inventor would definitely appreciate the help.]

(OOC: Tag wherever you'd like and if its an action portion feel free to tag around or thread hop like its a log. I can't promise I'll answer every harvest tag with Luke, but I will try. If you'd like to handwave that your character helped harvest, thats fine too! Lets get all Harvest Moon up inz!)

Though... it seems kinda weird that they'd use us in the Draft if they wanted us away from the Third Party.

Truly I don't even know what's going on, but they've seemed to need our talents.

They didn't have to go takin' their problem and makin' it ours. Why couldn't they use their fancy technology?

[He has a feeling he knows the answer; things like the droids are much more valuable than they are.]

I have no idea, other than the Third Party seems to outnumber them. The only thing that is for certain is that the Malnosso doesn't wish us dead, and the Third Party desires nothing but.

Maybe. The one thing I do know is that this stuff is all too complicated for me.

[Things would be easier if his capo societa was there to decide who was the enemy.]

Fair enough. Its better to focus on surviving at any cost.

Do you have wood for your home, or a place to stay if the power goes out? I'm told it's happened before, and its dangerous to rely on that during a blizzard.

[He's gotten by fine without power before, but it suddenly occurs to him that the same may not be true for his housemates.]

Wood, huh? Never actually thought about that, but I guess it'd be good to be able to make a fire... 'S not like we got a shortage on trees around here.

[In the city tenements Firo grew up in, you didn't have a choice but to bear the cold. It's different in Luceti, thankfully.]

I wouldn't cut down trees. Moro left a pile of wood near the barracks, but cutting down trees will get you into real trouble.

[Luke's gotten on fine too, but its worth saying all the same]

She's a 2 ton wolf god. And very protective of the forest.

[Oh. That sounds like a very good deterrent.]

Geez... You're kiddin' me, right?

No, I'm not. She's really angry, and attacked a man a few weeks ago.

Ace, I think his name was?

Well, damn. Guess I will stay away from the trees.

[He has doubts about something like a "god" really existing, but he wouldn't argue with a plain 2 ton wolf either.]

Does she do that a lot?

Not to my knowledge, usually people have no problems with her, but the last experiment probably put her on edge. I don't know for certain what happened, but that seems likely to be the case.

[He's really glad he's managed not to get lost in the woods for the past few weeks.]

I'll be keepin' an eye out, just in case. Thanks for the heads up about that, too.

Any other weird stuff goin' on? Like sea monsters in the lake?

Well, there is a dragon in the mountains, but he seems friendly.

Other than that, I think you've got nothing to worry about except for a vampire named Drusilla.

A friendly dragon, huh?

[Grune mentioned something similar, but that's Grune so he took it with a grain of salt.]

Yeah, I heard about some sorta vampire goin' around attackin' things. She still at it?

Its true.

And I don't think anyone's stopped her, so...yes.

Damn... There are rules for vampires, right? Or are those just stories?

[He'd never believed in vampires before, but he's read the fairytales. Vampires immune to sunlight would be even more troublesome than Dracula.]

Buffy mentioned that they don't like the sun, and that they can't come into a house uninvited. Is that what you mean?

Yeah. Back home there was a book--Dracula--that mentioned all that. Didn't think the story'd be real, but if there are vampires, it's nice to know there's some sorta limit on what they can do.

[He'll just have to make sure Seto's in by dark.]

Ah, apparently on some worlds they are a big problem. I've never encountered anything like them myself, but there seems to be a tradition of them in other worlds here in Luceti.

Yeah, they're only around in stories where I come from. Like dragons. And magic. ...And a lotta stuff that seems to show up here.

Its the same in for me I suppose. I watched a film called Superman recently, and I'm told that a friend of mine actually met Superman here.

...No way. What if that Superman guy saw the movie, too?

He'd probably find it odd. Apparently on some worlds I'm a character in a movie myself.
