11th Transmission: Seasonal Shifts [Video/Action] (Action Forward Dated Oct. 13)

[In the mid-morning Luke broadcasts a Video feed through the journal system. He stands squarely in front of the camera and speaks in a clear voice. It was a simple, fairly quick message that was open to anyone willing to listen. The seasons were changing and the first real cold snap couldn't be too far away. That meant...harvest time.]

Good morning everyone, this is Luke Skywalker and like usual I've got quite a lot of things to address. Please bear with me, this might get a little lengthy.

First, as this New Feather Cycle comes to a close I would like to welcome every newcomer to our little purgatory. I know things may seem confusing, and I'd like to offer my help to anyone that needs it. I'm willing to help however I can to make your transition as easy as I can, should you require medical assistance, need help moving heavy things, or even just need someone to talk to, feel free to contact me.

Secondly, I would like to thank Doctor Eggman for his instrumental assistance with the farm. He has been an invaluable help towards keeping everything watered and growing smoothly. His hard work has kept the farm running while I have been preoccupied.

Third, if anyone is available to help this weekend, I would greatly appreciate assistance in bringing in the final harvest of the farm's produce. We managed to actually grow quite a lot, and I'd like to make sure it all gets brought in before the frosts set in. I'll be out there all day on Saturday, and while I have some mechanical aid, more hands or hooves would definitely speed the process up quite a bit. Related to that, the food harvested will be added to shops, as well as preserved and stored where we can manage to find room. I've always felt that it's better to have too much food set aside for emergencies than just enough. [He chuckles]

Finally, I'd like to close with a question, as so many people often do. How do people prepare for winter in your world? I admit that this will be my second winter in Luceti but I've never actually been present for a seasonal shift from autumn to winter. I'm from a desert world, so we have very little in the way of actual winter weather.

Action:

[Saturday, Luke and Eggman are out and about at the farm, doing their best to collect the harvest with a small flotilla of heavily modified training remotes that have Eggman-style arms attached to pick things. Eggman, of course, is doing zero manual labor, but he's programming robots and maintaining them. A Bantha with large buckets is used to transport the food to the village for storage and consumption, as well as a repulsor-sled. If anyone wants to help with the harvest, the Jedi and the Inventor would definitely appreciate the help.]

(OOC: Tag wherever you'd like and if its an action portion feel free to tag around or thread hop like its a log. I can't promise I'll answer every harvest tag with Luke, but I will try. If you'd like to handwave that your character helped harvest, thats fine too! Lets get all Harvest Moon up inz!)

[Luke had agreed completely, and that was why he'd started this project in the first place. Food and water both needed to be gathered, preserved, and purified. It was entirely wrong to rely on untrustworthy individuals to feed them when they had the means to do it themselves.]

Figured we'd keep the farm as caution.

[In her basket, she grabs a hefty amount of produce she easily carries up as she stands.]

I thought I'd be needed in here for the bigger tasks, too.

Well, its definitely a good idea. In the spring we can grow more long term crops. This was just to keep the land from going fallow.

[Luke gestures to Hamal, the enormous bantha he'd requested with mission points. Baskets of produce hung from his furry flanks.]

Just put it into his baskets.

[She nods. As someone her size, she doesn't have any problems getting them over the sides of the beast. She looks at the front.]

I don't think I've seen similar animals in my world's colonies. [Creatures having tusks is often a bad sign, Gutas had taught her.] Are they usually as docile?

They are once they've been around sapient species for a while. They tend to imprint on whatever they're around, and Hamal's been rather popular with the children and the ponies. So, he's pretty friendly.

[Luke runs a hand across the shaggy creature's head, barely avoiding its slobbery, reaching tongue]

[She keeps away from the tongue. Even with trained and kind animals, she's learned not to get near a creature's mouth.]

Most big creatures where I'm from sometimes give trouble. Maybe winter creatures can be more docile...

[She assumes it may be so, given the creature's long hair.]

Winter creatures? Oh, you mean like Tauntauns or Wampas?

[Luke laughs and brushes a hand along Hamal's horns]

Bantha are actually from my world, a desert.

[daisy023]

[She doesn't identify either creature, but can only guess.]

A desert...? I'm not sure if my world could have similar creatures living there. Deserts where I'm from are too inhospitable.

I guarantee they aren't any less hospitable than Tatooine. But we make do.

[He grins and starts loading more stuff onto Hamal himself]

He's a real trooper though.

[daisy023]

No offense, sir. But I'd still prefer a Warthog. [She walks over to grab more of the harvest.] I'm more used to work with machines than animals. We had some slight training with horses, but that's about it.

[And not only even Innies rely more on machinery than horses. She wonders if a lot of horses would be pleased to have her as a rider.]

Typically, I would prefer a landspeeder myself, but I don't really have much choice here. Besides, Hamal here is a nice reminder of home. And he's tough enough to deal with winter.

[Luke runs his hand along a horn again]

Aren't you big guy?

[daisy023]

[She nods, as she continued to work. With the limitations, it was clear this was still a good choice for him. As well as a reminde of his home.

Home.

After she had spent her whole life seeking for her true home, she is still not sure which world could she call it that.
