11th Transmission: Seasonal Shifts [Video/Action] (Action Forward Dated Oct. 13)

[In the mid-morning Luke broadcasts a Video feed through the journal system. He stands squarely in front of the camera and speaks in a clear voice. It was a simple, fairly quick message that was open to anyone willing to listen. The seasons were changing and the first real cold snap couldn't be too far away. That meant...harvest time.]

Good morning everyone, this is Luke Skywalker and like usual I've got quite a lot of things to address. Please bear with me, this might get a little lengthy.

First, as this New Feather Cycle comes to a close I would like to welcome every newcomer to our little purgatory. I know things may seem confusing, and I'd like to offer my help to anyone that needs it. I'm willing to help however I can to make your transition as easy as I can, should you require medical assistance, need help moving heavy things, or even just need someone to talk to, feel free to contact me.

Secondly, I would like to thank Doctor Eggman for his instrumental assistance with the farm. He has been an invaluable help towards keeping everything watered and growing smoothly. His hard work has kept the farm running while I have been preoccupied.

Third, if anyone is available to help this weekend, I would greatly appreciate assistance in bringing in the final harvest of the farm's produce. We managed to actually grow quite a lot, and I'd like to make sure it all gets brought in before the frosts set in. I'll be out there all day on Saturday, and while I have some mechanical aid, more hands or hooves would definitely speed the process up quite a bit. Related to that, the food harvested will be added to shops, as well as preserved and stored where we can manage to find room. I've always felt that it's better to have too much food set aside for emergencies than just enough. [He chuckles]

Finally, I'd like to close with a question, as so many people often do. How do people prepare for winter in your world? I admit that this will be my second winter in Luceti but I've never actually been present for a seasonal shift from autumn to winter. I'm from a desert world, so we have very little in the way of actual winter weather.

[Saturday, Luke and Eggman are out and about at the farm, doing their best to collect the harvest with a small flotilla of heavily modified training remotes that have Eggman-style arms attached to pick things. Eggman, of course, is doing zero manual labor, but he's programming robots and maintaining them. A Bantha with large buckets is used to transport the food to the village for storage and consumption, as well as a repulsor-sled. If anyone wants to help with the harvest, the Jedi and the Inventor would definitely appreciate the help.]

Yohohoho! You sound like quite the busy person my friend! Between the harvests, welcoming people, and answering questions. And speaking of questions, I have quite the number of questions for you if you don't mind. Well actually some of them are more like comments, like how new feather doesn't exactly apply to me. Yohohoho!

[As if to prove his point, Brook shows of his bony wings]

Let's see... where to start off? I was curious about this force you speak of. It sounds a bit like a religion which I find rather fascinating as I've never heard of it before. Does it have to do with a form of spiritual energy of some sort? Or is the force more like a greater entity?

Its a term for newcomers, Mister Skeleton.

[He laughs, the merry bag of bones amusing him quite a bit]

The Force? Its...actually an energy field generated by all things. It binds the universe together. So in a sense, its like a spiritual energy.

Why not new wings then? It makes a lot more sense since I don't think all the wings have feathers, but it seems like everyone has wings. Oh! I forgot to introduce myself! My name is Brook, musician extraordinaire of the straw hat pirates, the humming swordsmen, and the artist formerly known as Soul King! Yohohoho!

[Brook gives an elaborate bow and a tip of his hat.]

So that's what the force is? I was always wondering if anyone ever had an official name to it. I've heard of names for it like, chi, or just spiritual energy, but the force certainly has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?

Well, I wasn't around when the term was coined. But it's nice to meet you, Brook. Who are the Straw Hat Pirates?

[Sounds familiar...]

Well, the Force is something like that, but its a little different. Its...from my home, and isn't really found elsewhere.

Has anyone ever thought of renaming the term? We could start a revolution to change the name so that it's new wings rather than new feather! Yohohoho! But I'm getting a bit distracted here... where was I? Ah! The straw hat pirates is the group of pirate led by captain Luffy, who as the name suggests, wears a distinctive straw hat. I believe it was passed down to him by the legendary pirate Red Hair Shanks. Regardless, we're a small band of pirates consisting of 9 members. My captain, Luffy, Zoro, the first mate, Nami, our talented navigator, Usopp, our sharpshooter, Sanji, our fine chef, Chopper our excellent doctor, Robin our charming archaeologist, Franky, our eccentric shipwright, and of course, yours truly! Yohohoho!

[He takes a long sip of tea after saying all that. Aren't you glad you asked?]

Are you sure the force is only found in your home? It sounds like a much grander... force than simply that. But perhaps I'm simply overestimating it. Although I know one thing, it's a little hard for the force to be with someone if it doesn't exist anywhere else but your home. Yohohoho!

Did you say Nami? Orange hair, and likes mikan?

[Luke smiles at the name. He's really fond of her]

I've only encountered people like myself able to manipulate the Force from my world at least. I feel it here, in all people, but I don't know if its possible to use it anywhere else.

That's the one! Yohohoho! I thought you may have met one of us, with so many of us living in this place. Apparently I lived here a few times too, although I don't have any recollection of my previous visit.

Ahh, so it's a matter of controlling it that you were speaking of? It could perhaps be that you have to be born with a certain amount of the force in you to wield it? Or perhaps it requires some sort of enhancer like a special diet? Yohohoho! Eating lots of force fruits and vegetables! Yohohoho!

Nami is a good friend, she's very kind. That means you know Trafalgar Law as well then? And...a young girl named Katie McCoy? She was asking after you recently.

No, its different than that. A potential isn't something you can get through an diet or anything like that. Its a bit like being born with a Devil's Fruit, though without the curse. If that makes sense.

Well I think I only really know him in passing actually. But yes... I've met Katie McCoy I think. I wish I'd somehow been able to handle that a little better. I fear I may have hurt her feelings, as I had no recollection of this place.

It does make a little bit of sense. I was just wondering if perhaps there was a way to make the force stronger in you than normal. Like if you are a devil fruit user who specializes in ice, maybe eating ice cream all the time might help.

Oh? I'm going to guess that Katie knew you from before. She told me about you, and said that you were a skeleton and a pirate. I think she missed you quite a lot, Brook.

There are ways to make the Force stronger though, that's right. There are certain herbs or medicines that can make someone with the potential gain more power, though they're fairly rare here.

Aye... I fear that I hurt her badly when I said I did not know who she was. I've been trying to find a way to repair the friendship we once had, but... I've had little success thus far. I'm not certain if I can adequately explain it but... I feel it is very important for me not to forget any of my friendships. Even if it may have been me from some other branched of timeline of some sort... it's still me, and I still bear the responsibilities.

I can understand that. It's all part of the strangeness of this world. Katie...is an odd girl, but she's very sweet. Maybe you can patch things up over time. She is really young. Just keep trying, and she'll forgive you.

I hope so... sometimes I wonder if I'm losing my touch when it comes to dealing with children.

Oh? Do you deal with them often, Brook?

I was given to understand that pirates sailed, and led and adventurous, dangerous life.

Yohohoho! You're right in that regard of course, but you see, I used to be captain of the Rumbar pirates. Our motto was that we could even make a crying child smile, and that it was one of the greatest services we could perform in life.

I also went on tour for two years after the straw hat pirates and I were separated... Although, my audience was mostly adults, not children.

How did you usually help children? Music?

That's correct! Music, funny faces, funny voices, anything and everything was fair game! Yohohoho!

Do you have much experience with children yourself?

Yea, my sister has three kids now. And I run a school at home.

Oh, you have a sister? Is she an older, or younger sister?

She's my twin, actually. And married. Also, not here.

So, you have a twin sister? Fascinating! Does she look a lot like you? Or is it just a born at the same time deal?

And if she had three children... I'd kind of hope she'd be married, but I understand how that can't always be the case.

She looks a lot like me, yea.

[Luke laughs]

I just wanted it clear she wasn't available, Brook.

Yohohoho! Run into that problem a lot eh? Your sister must be cute... and taken. Yohohoho! Sorry, sorry, couldn't resist.

Anyways, what are the kids like? Are they... gifted in the Force like you are? You did mention that was something you were born with where you come from, and if they're your twin sister's children...

Yea, we get that a lot.

[Luke nods]

Jacen and Jaina are twins, and incredibly gifted with the Force, as is Anakin. But Anakin is only two.

Wow, your nephews sure show signs of capabilities with the force at a young age. Or is that since you're strong with the force you can sense it in others?
