[In the mid-morning Luke broadcasts a Video feed through the journal system. He stands squarely in front of the camera and speaks in a clear voice. It was a simple, fairly quick message that was open to anyone willing to listen. The seasons were changing and the first real cold snap couldn't be too far away. That meant...harvest time.]

Good morning everyone, this is Luke Skywalker and like usual I've got quite a lot of things to address. Please bear with me, this might get a little lengthy.

First, as this New Feather Cycle comes to a close I would like to welcome every newcomer to our little purgatory. I know things may seem confusing, and I'd like to offer my help to anyone that needs it. I'm willing to help however I can to make your transition as easy as I can, should you require medical assistance, need help moving heavy things, or even just need someone to talk to, feel free to contact me.

Secondly, I would like to thank Doctor Eggman for his instrumental assistance with the farm. He has been an invaluable help towards keeping everything watered and growing smoothly. His hard work has kept the farm running while I have been preoccupied.

Third, if anyone is available to help this weekend, I would greatly appreciate assistance in bringing in the final harvest of the farm's produce. We managed to actually grow quite a lot, and I'd like to make sure it all gets brought in before the frosts set in. I'll be out there all day on Saturday, and while I have some mechanical aid, more hands or hooves would definitely speed the process up quite a bit. Related to that, the food harvested will be added to shops, as well as preserved and stored where we can manage to find room. I've always felt that it's better to have too much food set aside for emergencies than just enough. [He chuckles]

Finally, I'd like to close with a question, as so many people often do. How do people prepare for winter in your world? I admit that this will be my second winter in Luceti but I've never actually been present for a seasonal shift from autumn to winter. I'm from a desert world, so we have very little in the way of actual winter weather.

[Saturday, Luke and Eggman are out and about at the farm, doing their best to collect the harvest with a small flotilla of heavily modified training remotes that have Eggman-style arms attached to pick things. Eggman, of course, is doing zero manual labor, but he's programming robots and maintaining them. A Bantha with large buckets is used to transport the food to the village for storage and consumption, as well as a repulsor-sled. If anyone wants to help with the harvest, the Jedi and the Inventor would definitely appreciate the help.]

(OOC: Tag wherever you'd like and if its an action portion feel free to tag around or thread hop like its a log. I can't promise I'll answer every harvest tag with Luke, but I will try. If you'd like to handwave that your character helped harvest, thats fine too! Lets get all Harvest Moon up inz!)

Well, I'd been right. Jack's 'Soul sauce' had been a great base for a plant growth potion, as a symbol of nature's bounty.

Maybe too good.

I poured out roughly a quarter of the potion onto the soil surrounding the plant, and the plant suddenly sprang to life, sprouting rapidly, a small fruit already appearing on it before my eyes...

... and then it promptly burst into a mass of over-ripe mush, rotting before my very eyes, as the plant beneath it promptly toppled under its own weight. Fungal parasites sprung up over its surface, quickly sprouting into sporulent masses that threatened to erupt and send this effect everywhere.

"Ah! Jesus!"

Quickly, I stomped out the rampantly-growing plants, but they sprang up around the sides of my shoe. Cursing, I moved my foot and held out a hand, muttering,

"Fuego."

The rapidly sprouting plants erupted into cinders, and I stomped out the smoldering ashes quickly.

"... Right. Gonna need to dilute that."

[Luke watched from a ways away, having given Harry permission to test...whatever that was...on a few plants. It wasn't going to survive in the cold anyway, and he'd planned on burning the field to fill the soil with fresh ash anyway. He'd read that it'd help keep the earth healthy during the winter]

Um, yea, looks like. Is it supposed to burn like that, Harry?

Oh, hell's bells. Another chance to show magic to my childhood icon, and I'd lit his field on fire.

Bravo, Harry.

"Uh. Just, um. Just a little hiccup."

And I'd missed a sprout, which was now merrily smoldering away. I hastily stomped it out.

"The potion worked, uh... a little better than I'd anticipated."

"I can tell," Luke responded wryly, "but how does burning the plants make them grow better, again?"

"It stops them from growing better. I didn't want a sudden rush of biological terror to take your whole field."

"Like...some sort of magical plant monsters?"

"No, more like rampant growth period. My big worry was that the fungus would give off spores, and then you'd have rapidly-growing superfungus all over your field. Luckily, the potion doesn't make the fungus any more resistant to fire."

"Well that sounds terribly unpleasant. Why was it you wanted to do this again?"

"That's why it needs to be diluted, it's supposed to just make plants grow faster and healthier."

"How...rapidly are we talking, Harry? And have you ever done this before? Not that I'm doubting you can, just wondering"

"This is a whole new process and a whole new recipe. It's in the testing phases still..."

I frowned.

"But I think we can see that it does work..."

"Definitely. it'd be really useful if you can perfect it. Perhaps it'll be ready in time for the spring? Once...we've got everything picked, you can have free range. We'll have to replant it all anyway, so test all you like"

"Awesome. The sooner I get it perfected the better, though, a friend of mine has a project."

"What sort of project, if I might ask?"

"Sabriel Abhorsen wants to grow lemon trees."

"Well," Luke said with a nod, "we'll just have to make that happen. Sabriel is...a dear friend. If it would make her smile, then we'll have to make it happen."

"She's a good kid, no doubt. You know her?"

"I do, quite well. She's very close to a dear friend of mine, and until recently was staying with my girlfriend and her housemate. Sabriel...is honestly someone I think of as an adopted daughter. I try and look out for her where I can. I didn't know you were friends."

"Yeah, we met back when I was talking to people about magic. She was one of the ones who supported the idea of a group."

"Right," Luke nods, "I remember that. I was away when you held the last meeting I think. Or in no shape to attend."

"You and most of the village. That was the weekend the Malnosso decided to turn this place into Toontown.

"Toontown? I'm afraid I don't understand the reference."

"Oh. Uh. Wacky cartoon land. Hijinks, hilarity. When everybody was bouncing off the ground, teleporting doors, gravity working sideways? I was stuck talking in rhymes for most of the week."

"Oh right, that. I heard about it, I was on a mission."

"You got lucky, then."

I sighed and looked down at my bottle of potion.

"Anyway, I think I'm done mucking about with this, I'll have to dilute it and come back later.. Good grief, I think you could weaponize this crap. Still got some heavy lifting to do?"
