[The hologram nods, her lips quirking into a vague smile. The spirit currently inhabiting the holocron had actually come from Luke and been a part of Luceti for a time thanks to the machinations of the Malnosso. It was a curious thing, she thought, but she'd spoken with another version of this man before.

And she knew full well who it was. The question was more to gauge his honesty.]

Luke's father, then. A pleasure to speak with you, Knight Skywalker. Or would you prefer Anakin?

[The hologram steps back and hops up onto the workbench, sitting comfortably and easily. She's tall for a human, 5'10" at least, so her legs dangle a bit. Dignity was never her real concern after all.]

What can I do for you today?

"So... Luke has told you about me? About who I am?" [Anakin is slightly derailed from his objective, but Anakin was never good at staying on target if he wasn't comfortable about something. And knowing what Grandmaster Sunrider knew about him would go a long way to making him more relaxed and better able to stay focused.]

You mistake me, Anakin.

[The Grandmaster smiles at him brightly.]

I've met a previous you. The Malnosso have made me walk in Luceti before, seeing through the eyes of Luke. Am I to understand you are a different Anakin?

"Luke hasn't told me much about what you know." [And Anakin hadn't asked that many questions.] "I'm sure there isn't another Anakin Skywalker."

"So... what do you know about me?"

I know what Luke knows. Our consciousnesses were joined by the Malnosso. And that is a rather complicated story, Anakin. One I'm not sure would make much sense even to me.

[She smiles wryly and kicks her feet.]

Besides, you did not wake me up to ask questions about yourself, did you?

"No, I didn't... but..."

[As well as Anakin could withstand a scrutinizing stare, Grandmaster Sunrider's comportment was not what he expected from a Grandmaster. She was very different from Grandmaster Yoda.]

"You're willing to talk to me, still... knowing who I am?" [If there was one thing that was drilled into initiates about Gatekeepers, it was that they could and would deny you access to the holocron, or them, if they felt you were unworthy. And Anakin couldn't imagine he came out favorable from any assessment.]

Are you implying I should not?

[She folds her arms across her chest and looks straight into his eyes.]

You are a Jedi. You are more than welcome to ask me questions, and I will answer as I see fit.

"I... that designation might be too generous." [Well, he'd started out with honesty, he momentum now.]

"Are you- you don't act like a Grandmaster." [That might have been too much honesty.]

Oh?

[She raises an eyebrow imperiously. The effect may be spoiled by the fact that it's a hologram.]</small How should I act? What were you expecting?

“I’ve… never seen a Grandmaster sit…” [He gestured to all of her. Especially the feet that had kicking.] “Like that.”

[She laughs and leans back, studying him with that same summery smile.]

And how many Grandmasters have you met that live as a spirit inside a holocron? And for that matter, how many have you met who weren't Yoda?

"Well, none besides Master Yoda."

[He paused.]

"I've never actually spoken one on one with a Gatekeeper before. Holocrons were only accessible to Masters, and I mostly only saw them in group lectures."

Then you have no idea what it's like. Coming out feels freeing, frankly. That's why I'm probably not quite up to Master Yoda's standards, but...then I'm also nowhere near as old as he is. At least, I wasn't when this recording was made.

[Anakin looked down with suspicion at the holocron in his hands.]

"So... you can tell when you're inside? Like, you're trapped inside a box?"

[seaoflight]

No. I don't really feel anything in there. I'm just a digital imprint, you understand. But I know when it's been activated and deactivated. And I do like being on, because it means I'm doing the things a holocron was meant to do.

"And what's that? What were you meant to do?"

Guide the Jedi of the future, of course.

[ignite_the_stars]

[Anakin snorted.] "If you're a Master, you mean?"

[seaoflight]

Well, in my time only masters are permitted to make Holocrons.

[ignite_the_stars]

"In my time only Masters were permitted access to them." [He said it with a shrug, he guess that was a sort of symmetry. And though it wasn't entirely accurate, on a rare occasion a Master might utilize one during a group lesson, but those instances were so very few and dependent on the Master teaching the lesson that it was basically the same as saying only Master's were permitted to use them.]

Is that so?

[Nomi frowns, looking at the glowing crystalline matrix that was projecting her form.]

That is not what was originally intended. There were dangerous holocrons, yes, recovered artifacts of the Sith. But Jedi like Master Vodo-Baas or Odan Urr? Surely they are not so similarly restricted.

[Anakin's blank look at the mention of those names should reveal all that he knew about those individuals. He had a feeling he was supposed to know more about them, but he couldn't place their names.]

"If the Council kept a store of Sith artifacts, they didn't tell the rest of the Jedi. And only Masters were granted admittance to the holocron Archives. Anyone of a lower rank wasn't allowed to possess or use the ones in the Archives. The few outside the Archives were... really just glorified storage devices, no Gatekeepers. I think a Master used a holocron for group lessons maybe... five times that I can remember."

[He shrugged.]

"I don't know. Maybe other Masters used them when training their Padawans. But they weren't used with me."

[seaoflight]

[His lack of knowledge was pitiable, honestly, given the level of importance they held within the Order's history. Nomi's frown only deepens.]

That is unfortunate. Extremely so.

[She takes a breath, or seems to anyway.]

A waste of knowledge. Pure and simple. But, no matter I suppose. I was not your teacher, or you'd have received that sort of instruction. Now, however, I am here.

You activated my holocron for a reason. What questions do you have?

[Oh... well, if a waste of knowledge disappointed her so much, his inquiry was not going to please her.]

"I wanted to know what you knew about making Gatekeepers. That was also not taught to me."

[seaoflight]

[She clicks her tongue and drops back to the floor.]

Was the secret lost? Or just not taught?
