[There had to be some cosmic law somewhere in the multiverse that prevented students from having to learn on Saturdays.]

[Yu looked much like a zombie as he went about his morning routine in what had to be the most ungodly hour, and his wings were drooping as much as his eyelids as he struggle to stay awake and not choke on his toothbrush. He washed his face to wake up, dressed, had a light breakfast, and paused at the door leading outside. His Master didn't believe in luck, but sometimes he wondered if luck had something to do with getting through his lessons.]

[A small smile tugged at the corner of his mouth as he pushed his way out the door, setting out in a jog toward his Master's house, and trying to picture a scandalized look on his face if he ever told him that.]

[Luke expected Yu to be late. It was almost always that way on Saturday mornings, but he was a fairly strict teacher, even here. When he'd found out Yu was in Luceti, training had restarted immediately, but he'd settled for a few imperfections. It's not like there was any hurry on a Saturday morning. Even Obi-Wan allowed himself to sleep in a bit then.

When Yu arrives, he'll find Luke seated on the front porch of House 46 in the shade, eyes closed and legs crossed in meditation. A mat for the boy is nearby, of course, a silent invitation ~~or command~~ to join him.]

[That was part of the problem; their opinions on what "sleeping in" was were vastly different from each other. While Luke was okay with six in the morning as sleeping in, Yu was more content with somewhere around nine, or even closer to noon, for a proper sleep in.]

[The first time Yu had made his run to Luke's place, way back when he first arrived, he had been nervous by the silence and the mat waiting for him expectantly. Now he was just used to it, and settled himself down on it, trying to clear his thoughts. That was something always easier said than done, however; he may have talked very little, but his mind was always active, stray thoughts of ideas, worries, and concerns running through unchecked.]

[Yu forced out a breath, shoving away the morning rush and the thoughts that came with it, and trying to find that inner peace.]

[Luke didn't react to that at all. He just sat, legs crossed, contemplating the Force and everything around him. The trees, the birds, the sun, the false stars, the barrier, and the lives around it. Family, friends, Ami, and Yu. Emptiness came naturally to him, but he could tell with Yu, it was a bit more of a struggle, and that was a large part of why the Jedi had him begin each day with meditation like this.]

[It was... hard; the emptiness scared him, reminded him of how alone he was before he met Luke. The effort he was putting into it was clear on his face until he could finally get himself to relax enough to listen to the world around him. He took it all in, letting that fill him and letting it lure him into something that at least felt peaceful.]

[Luke allowed Yu to take a few moments of that peace before he spoke, voice calm and somewhat amused.]

Oversleep again?

[Yu blew out a breath; and there went all his concentration. He cracked an eye open, giving his master a look.]

I'll figure out that waking up thing one of these days.

[Luke chuckles quietly, giving his student an impish look.]

Have you heard of an alarm clock, my young apprentice?

[Yu just stopped at that, a slow pink color starting to creep up his face, starting from his neck.]

Of... course, Master.

[Luke smiled and waved off the discussion. No point in teasing Yu further. He'd learn in time.]

Are you ready to get some work done? The earlier we get started, the sooner we can be done.

[He swore Luke enjoyed tormenting him. Still, he couldn't help but smile, especially when he mentioned getting to work. He had to keep himself from practically jumping up to his feet.]

Yes Master.

[Luke enjoys teasing him, to be sure. But not tormenting. Luke stands up and dusts his trousers off before pointing off towards the north.]

Then lets get up to the farm. [Like Yoda, he was a firm believer in hard work for training.]

On the way, I'd like for you to recite the Jedi Code, if you would.

[...no, he was pretty sure this was torture. Yu fought back the urge to let out a sigh, reminding himself that repetition was the best way to learn. Never mind he had repeated it about a million times since Luke had taken him on as a student.]

[He waited for Luke to start off first, letting out a soft breath.]

There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no death, there is the Force.

[Luke started off at a brisk jog. Not fast, so that Yu wouldn't have to work to keep up. As he finished reciting, the youth got a nod.]

Good.

[A pause, and then he asked.]

How've your private studies been going?

[Yu didn't have problems keeping up. He walked everywhere on his homeworld before he even met Luke; a quick jog to the barn was nothing.]

It's going well, though sometimes it can be hard to find a quiet spot to concentrate.

[So many cats... he really needed to start giving them away, but they were too cute, and they called him dad, and...]

Oh?

[Luke's smile broadens in understanding. The kitten he'd given his mother was just as cute, after all, and seemed to get along well with everyone in the house...but it had a habit of sticking it's nose everywhere.]

Are the cats making it more difficult? How many have you got, now?

[A bit of a sheepish look crossed Yu's face.]

...I actually lost count. I can't just leave them without a home.

No, I can't really argue with that logic.

[It was kind, and it preserved light and life...so...]

Have your housemates pitched in?

Yukiko tries, but she gets flustered when they call her 'mommy'. I... think it's best they don't go near Elizabeth.

[She was strange, very strange; he didn't even want to imagine what sort of habits they would pick up from her. Yu shook his head, trying to get rid of the mental image of Elizabeth with an army of cats at her command, before picking up the pace.]

[He chuckles, nodding. She'd actually given him the creeps, if he was being honest with himself.]

I've met Elizabeth. She's...interesting. In a mysterious sort of way.

Yeah... I haven't got her figured out yet, but I'm trying.

[He wanted to understand and accept the people in his life... even if they were really weird.]

Well, you did choose to live with her, after all.

[And she seems nice...at least.]

[Yu gave a nod.]

Not regretting that choice. She's just... odd.

[He started to slow down the closer they got to the barn.]

What am I doing today?

Today you're going to help me move some of the rocks away from the northern edge of the farm.

[He grins.]

I thought you could use some practice with telekinesis.

[Yu fought against the urge to make a face; telekinesis was definitely his weak point. It was hard for him to just... move things when he knew the truth of how heavy something really was. He was no where near that enthusiastic with his response.]

...yes master...
