[Once they arrive, Luke takes a seat on a nearby boulder and gestures towards one of the smaller ones.]

Show me what you can do, Yu.

[Yu gave a nod, taking a deep breath and blowing it out slowly. He just... had to pretend they weren't has heavy as they really were. No, not even think about the weight; just think about moving them. That was all, and maybe this time he'd be able to move something more than a couple inches.]

[He reached out his senses, letting his mind wrap itself around one of the smaller boulders and move it. It hit him almost immediately how heavy it was, and he had to force that out of his mind as sweat began to bead up on his face. No, it was not heavy, and he just had to move it.]

[Luke watches in silence, remembering what it was like at first. Those steps had been the hardest and he didn't want to spoil Yu's concentration.]

[After a long moment of trying to lift the damn rock, it felt like his brain was going to snap. Yu had no choice but to stop, bending over to clutch at his knees as he gasped for air. Anything else he could wrap his head around, but telekinesis? Especially large things? It was like his brain went into a screeching halt and said no.]

Did... did it at least wiggle?

[Luke shakes his head, ever patient.]

Not yet. Remember what we talked about before. Clear your mind. Feel out for the Force. Think only of the Force.

[Yeah, think only of the Force. He'd heard that lecture before, and he knew the stumbling block he had with this was his own way of thinking. For him, he could only see the truths and the lies before him. Trying to wrap his head around the many things the Force could do and accepting it as truth was almost impossible; if he could just see the For--]

[He stopped that thought before it could get any further; he had heard that lecture before as well, and he wasn't in the mood to hear it again. Maybe if he could just picture the Force in his mind, he wouldn't have that much trouble? Yu let out a breath, reaching up to rub at his eyes, before standing up straighter to try again.]

[He reached out, closing his eyes so he could see something, anything other than that big heavy boulder. Instead of the darkness of the back of his lids, however, his world lit up with lines of color, encircling and connecting everything around him to each other and to him. He wobbled on the spot, for a moment completely overwhelmed and lost in it. This wasn't right; the Force was supposed to be touched, felt. It wasn't supposed to be so visible and vibrant like this! Was this all in his head; was his mind playing tricks on him? Still, even as he stared at it, he could actually feel the threads of that damn rock tied to him. It felt like could just reach out to it and TUG!]

[His concentration snapped almost immediately as he heard something woosh past his ear. Yu's eyes flew open, only to cringe a moment later as a resounding THUD made the ground vibrate at his feet, and he didn't need to turn around to know that he had moved that rock all right…]

…oops…

[Well, that's better than Luke had expected. He hops up and gives Yu a warm smile. He'd really done well, all things considered. The frustration was evident, but it was the kind of thing that all young learners went through.]

No, not oops, that was good, excellent even. You've just got to pull a bit slower. Not so hard, like you're opening a door, not trying to wrangle a bantha.

[Yu reached to rub at the back of his neck, finally turning around to look at the boulder. Wow, he... really did do that. Granted, he was lucky he didn't take anything out, although Luke would probably remind him there was no such thing as luck.]

[...still, he really did that, didn't he...?]

R-right. Sorry...

Don't be embarrassed, it's a good first step.

[Unlike Yoda? Luke was all about praise. Mostly.]

[Yu smiled faintly, but he wasn't the type to get a big head over it. He nodded faintly, before glancing back at the boulder again.]

...I could... actually see it.

You could? And what did it look like?

[This is also important. It'll help Luke figure out future training and ways to describe things.]

[Yu bit his lip, a bit of a pink tint coming to his face. He felt so silly repeating it, especially after everything he'd learned so far.]

It was like... light. Strings of light connecting everything together. I really could just reach out to anything I wanted and just pull on it.

[His expression turned a bit hopeful, like he was silently begging Luke not to tall him crazy.]

Is that right?

[Luke smiled, nodding. It wasn't how he saw the Force...but as he'd learned during his possession troubles from Master Sunrider, not everyone saw the Fore the same way.]

There's no right or wrong answer to that question. The Force is different for everyone, Yu. If you see it as strings of light, then that's what it is.

[Yu let out a faint, "Oh," at that, mulling it over in his head. Why light, though? Maybe... because until he met Luke, he had been all alone? Meeting Luke had opened him up to the light of the world around him?]

[...nah, that was too easy.]

What happens now?

[He kept eyeballing that boulder, like he half expected it to just roll back on its own.]

Now?

[Luke grins, nodding towards another rock.]

Now you go again. These rocks aren't going to move themselves, you know.

[...he should have known. Yu turned around to the sea of boulders before him (that might have been a little bit of an exaggeration), trying not to look as intimidated as he felt. Finally he let out a breath, looking for that calm again.]

Okay... give me something to aim at?

[Luke points over to a rockpile about ten meters off. Not that far really, and it's starting to look like a wall.]

Over there. Not too far, see.

[Oh boy... he wasn't attached to that wall, was he? Hopefully he wouldn't end up knocking it down. Yu shuffled over so he was facing the "wall", taking a deep breath and closing his eyes again to try and concentrate. Tugging was one thing, pushing might have been a little different; he just had to be nice and gentle and just give it a tap, right?]

[He saw those strings again in his mind, and reached out to them, giving a big one what he hoped was a nudge forward. It wobbled in place, but otherwise didn't move; okay, that wasn't enough, so he just had to nudge it a little harder, right? Yu reached out again, trying to nudge it a little harder...]

[The rock moved alright, flying like a rocket toward the wall. He cursed under his breath -- something he never did -- trying to grab for it and put the brakes on it before it destroyed anything, only to hear a thud as the stone suddenly dropped on top of another boulder.]

[...could he scream yet?]

[Luke was there to help though, reaching out in the Force and steadying the rock underneath it. He wasn't sure if Yu could sense that yet, but if he couldn't then all the better. Either way it needed to be done, for Yu's confidence if nothing else.]

Not bad. See, you're getting the hang of it. Once you get a little more control, you'll be ahead of the game.

[Yu took a deep breath.]

Y-yeah... just need to figure out how much to tug and push things.

Practice, Yu. That's all it takes.

[He reaches out and grabs a boulder of his own, moving it neatly over to the others, bringing it to rest slowly next to the pile.]

Nice and easy. Once you get it moving, it's a lot easier.

[Yu didn't take his eyes off of what his master was doing, trying to take in the sense of it. He let out a breath again, shuddering as he reached out for that same kind of calm that Luke always seemed to have.]

[He reached out, like he had a giant pair of hands to grab the boulders. Instead of pushing or pulling, however, he just... carried it to the wall, like he hadn't even been struggling before. He could hear the rock settle with a soft click, but it seemed so distant in his ears.]

[Instead, it felt more like his mind had expanded far beyond himself, like he could just take on anything just by carrying that one boulder. He let himself drown in that feeling, a soft breath coming from him as he reached out to everything he could touch and just feeling it like he was touching it for the first time.]

[And that's when Luke finally claps. Not loudly, and not long, but he's grinning ear to ear now, seeing his student's success.]

That's perfect. Really. Just like that, a pair of hands guiding the boulder. Feel the Force around you, and use that as an extension of yourself.

[Luke's enthusiasm helps bring him out of it, and Yu near stumbled when he opened his eyes again, very painfully aware of how small he was in comparison to just what was immediately around him after all that.]

...that was intense.

[It was the only way he could think of to describe what he just felt.]

The Force is an intense thing to feel. It's the energy that flows between all living things, how could it not be?

[Luke nods, expression still soft but more serious now.]

It's also important to be mindful of what's going on, and not to lose yourself too deeply in it.
