2nd Transmission, Return of the Jedi [Voice]

Good evening everyone, this is Luke Skywalker returning from a mission at the behest of our...keepers. Did I miss anything important? I only have a sketchy time-frame for how long I was outside of the compound. I am alright, it just took longer than I anticipated thanks to the weather.

Next, I would like to extend a greeting to all of the newcomers I've seen wandering around the village. I have not been around very long myself, but should you require assistance I would be more than happy to help in any way that I can.

Finally, the weather here seems to have gotten colder, and it was my understanding that in many other worlds this time of year is considered a feast time or festival? It may seem like a strange request, but I've thought quite a bit about, and gotten curious about the customs and traditions of other homes. If you would be willing to share information about your home's winter culture I would be very interested to hear it.

[He pauses a beat, taking the moment to sip his oolong tea and debate with himself. The thought of telling Luke some of the details of his little plan had crossed his mind. But, without more than a name and baseline description for a lead, he didn't have much. The wiser course was to keep quiet until he had more details.

Well, I would like to know more about the movies that you know me from. Honestly, its a bit...disconcerting to be thought of as a fictional character, but I feel like I should know more about them.

Yeah, I imagine it is.

...I'm not really sure where to begin, because the director made them out of order. There are supposed to be six parts to the series, but he started them at the fourth one. The last I heard before I got here, there weren't any plans to make the first three any time soon.

Otherwise, those three movies that have been made were about you, your participation in the rebellion against the Empire, and your journey to become a Jedi. ...They take us to the end of the Battle of Endor.

There's also been a lot of books written about events that happened before the rebellion and after, but I haven't really read those.

[he shrugs.]

That's about all I have--other people here might know more about the books, or of the other films ever were made.

[Luke listens quietly, curious about these things that people kept talking about]

It seems so. Derek most definitely knows about the movies, and it sounds like the little girl...Maggie...knows about them as well. I suppose, for whatever reason, those people will always view me as a piece of fiction.

Has that happened to you?

Yeah, actually. A young woman, named Erika. I didn't even tell her my real name, and she was speaking to me like she knew about all of my exploits. Getting the details was like pulling teeth--but yeah, basically the same conclusion.

It's probably not that unusual around here. Don't worry about it too much.

You have exploits?

You remember when I said I was a thief? What I didn't say is that I'm an internationally wanted criminal where I'm from. Of course I have exploits, though they're not as grand as some of yours.

[thefinaljedi]

[I've got the death sentence in twelve systems!]

Well, since you know all about mine, I think its only fair that you share some of yours.

[He wouldn't exactly say that, but he has already been sentenced to the electric chair!]

They're boring, really. Compared to yours. But, I could let you in on a little something that could be my most audacious job yet.

And what would that me, my rascally friend?

[redjacketthief]

[Ooooh! If Luke were anyone else, Lupin would clam up right then and there at the term 'rascally friend.' But, this is Luke Skywalker he was speaking to--minor indiscretions were allowed.]

What else is there that a man would desire more in this place?





Escape.

[Luke's allowed to be a dork. He's Luke after all. However, Lupin's comment catches him in all the right ways. He is intrigued. Wondering how he intends to get out, and at his relative audacity...]

And how do you plan to accomplish that, again?

[redjacketthief]

...by throwing caution to the wind.

[He's smiling, but the smile reveals nothing of his plans. Even if he has little more than a lead to go on, it's enough. His confidence has always bolstered him through even the most insane circumstances.]

And how can I help, Lupin?

I'm still figuring out the details, but if you could be on alert for anything that might be useful, that'd be awesome.

Thanks. I'm not one to not fight the good fight if its an option. Sitting still and taking this...isn't fun. More trustworthy minds are always welcome.

[Luke laughs]

You trust me, then?

[redjacketthief]

How can I not? I'm the rogue here!

[thefinaljedi]

And how would you know that I'm not a rogue?

[redjacketthief]

My intuition doesn't lie.

Fair enough. [Luke finishes his tea in a single gulp, smiling back at the thief]

Yes, you can count on me to help you with your master caper in any way I am able. I am more than willing to turn the fullest extent of my power toward that end.

Thanks.

[He meant that. Having such a good person and powerful allie by his side was something he hadn't counted on.]

So, what is the plan, then?

[Ooooh! It had to come to this!]

You know? I'm still working on that. I'm not stupid enough to storm the barrier, but I'm also not stupid enough to advertise openly...
