13th Transmission: A Year in Review. [Action/Voice]

[Early that morning, Luke rolls out of bed quietly so as not to wake Ami from her Force trance and set about his day. It was a strange thing, really, getting up in the morning and heading into a routine. The week of dreamless sleep had done him a world of good, keeping back nightmares from the draft. Things were getting better. A light breakfast follows, filling the house with smells if housemates are feeling peckish.

For the early part of the day the Jedi went through his typical morning routine. A run around the village, complete with some rather extreme Parkour has him breathing pretty heavy. He stops by the Bakery for a bit of brunch, and then makes his way to the Battle Dome for a bit of practice. Around lunchtime, he can be found at Seventh Heaven and the square before heading out to the Farmland to check on Hamal before heading back to town.

Sometime in the late afternoon, he sends out a Voice message:]

Afternoon everyone, and greetings to any New Feathers who may be listening. As always, I'd like to offer whatever assistance I can. If you need help with something, please let me know.

I've got a bit of a question for anyone who's willing to listen. Is there anything particularly special you do for the end of your first year here? I arrived one year ago, today. And to be honest it's the longest I've spent on a single planet in over a decade. I've got to admit it's a bit of an odd feeling for me.

I've also been curious about people's travel experiences. Have any of you visited other worlds? Or even other continents on your own homeworld? If you haven't, why not?

And on a final note, I regret to inform everyone that Doctor Eggman has returned home again. He was a great help with the farm, and a good friend.

If I relay anything to you, I need you to not approach her about it. I think she's very ... particular about people not knowing more about her than they have to.

We've talked a bit, I know a bit more than nothing, but of course. She's told me some things herself.

What has she said to you? If you know her, you'd know that... you can't believe what she says directly.

I know she's not human, entirely and that she can't directly tell the truth. She lies, but it's not difficult to figure out what she's talking about. I'm fairly sure she respects me because of who I am in her world too. And I know there's something bad following her. I'm not sure what it is, but it's either controlling her or making her upset enough to shove people away.

It's... something of a manifestation. It's not a real creature, exactly... although I believe it represents an incident that she can't remember clearly. It's not visible to the ordinary eye.

That much I've gathered. I can feel it's presence in the Force, but I'm not sure what it represents. A psychic construct, not terribly dissimilar to some things Sith can do.

She doesn't see the world the way most people see it. It's almost as if it's on another level... the things she sees and interacts with are usually deeply rooted within other people. Their fears, or obsessions, things like that. But when this incident happened to her... she developed something of her own. It's... new for her as well, I think. It keeps her moving, because... it can hurt her.

Right, I've noticed that too. I've seen her floating around for the last couple of months. We talked about it a little bit, but she kept trying to play it off like she wasn't worried or scared. She is. And it showed.

I've been trying to come up with ways to undo it, it's obviously some sort of psychic trauma.

It's just the way she's lived - the only one she feels she can rely on is herself, in this sort of situation. We can only make guesses at what it is she's truly dealing with.

Someone killed her, but we don't know who or why, and she doesn't remember, herself. It happened so quietly that the truth of the matter wasn't immediately realized, and there isn't even a guarantee that the person who did it is still in the enclosure... it was quite a few months ago now. Late March, I'd say.

By the Force...

[He shook his head, clearly worried]

So, you think this phantom is tired to that incident? A death penalty?

It's not a death penalty. It's... like an obsession, a fear, that was given a monstrous form from her bits and pieces of recollection. Except she's not scared of it, exactly; it exists on a plane where she feels more equipped to fight it, with her magic back. It's not like anything you can find in nature - and believe me, I've looked.

Have you tried addressing this with anyone else? She clearly needs some sort of help. She's just a kid, and if this...obsession is driving her to attack people? Then it needs to be stopped.

[Are they talking about the same thing? For a moment she wonders.]

Yes, I've talked to a few others. However, you have to realize that she's not just a child, and she's far too stubborn to accept proper help. I don't believe she's made any moves against others lately... I haven't heard of any incidents, but if too many people get involved, I'm worried if that may do more harm than good for her.

I spoke to a man named Wolfwood, and there were a few other people I've heard about being attacked by a cat, or by her, as well.

[He raises an eyebrow]

That was shortly before the draft, though. I recognize that she's no ordinary child, but that doesn't really change the fact that she's young, and there's something driving her to be...unbalanced. She's got power enough to endanger others.

[He pauses, worry flickering across his features.]

Just so we're clear I'm not saying that we go hunting for her, or hurt her. But if we can, we need to try and find a way to calm her down before something worse happens.

[She shakes her head a little. She knows Luke isn't quite right, but then again, would it really help Katie if she were to give all her secrets? Trust was one of the most difficult things to obtain with her.]

She's aware that people have caught on to her involvement in hurting others, so she may be trying to avoid people to prevent that while she attends to her business. She needs to know that there are people she can trust, who won't force their will upon her. That might be why she had attacked Wolfwood, if that is what being a 'priest' represented to her. A threat to her magic, and existence...

Right, she explained some of that to me herself. She...seems oddly at peace with me, because of those films. I know promises mean a lot to her too.

[He shrugs, not really knowing what else to think]

They do. [Raine finds herself thinking of that metaphor with the cats and the bells, and the promise on the roof.]

She has that familiarity with you, but I wouldn't push it too far.

I hadn't planned on it. It's usually her that brings it up anyway.

[He laughs a bit at the thought]

What do you think is best then?

... Honestly, I don't know. I want to be able to reach the little girl that I know is still there, but... the only way I can think of to do that is drastic, and won't help at all with gaining her trust.

And what's that?

I ... don't know if I want to say at present.

That's up to you. You know I'll do whatever I can.

It's honestly not too difficult to figure out, but... I'd rather not cross that bridge unless it's necessary, and even then, it won't solve whatever the deeper problem is. It would be more like putting a bandaid over a gaping wound...
