13th Transmission: A Year in Review. [Action/Voice]

[Early that morning, Luke rolls out of bed quietly so as not to wake Ami from her Force trance and set about his day. It was a strange thing, really, getting up in the morning and heading into a routine. The week of dreamless sleep had done him a world of good, keeping back nightmares from the draft. Things were getting better. A light breakfast follows, filling the house with smells if housemates are feeling peckish.

For the early part of the day the Jedi went through his typical morning routine. A run around the village, complete with some rather extreme Parkour has him breathing pretty heavy. He stops by the Bakery for a bit of brunch, and then makes his way to the Battle Dome for a bit of practice. Around lunchtime, he can be found at Seventh Heaven and the square before heading out to the Farmland to check on Hamal before heading back to town.

Sometime in the late afternoon, he sends out a Voice message:]

Afternoon everyone, and greetings to any New Feathers who may be listening. As always, I'd like to offer whatever assistance I can. If you need help with something, please let me know.

I've got a bit of a question for anyone who's willing to listen. Is there anything particularly special you do for the end of your first year here? I arrived one year ago, today. And to be honest it's the longest I've spent on a single planet in over a decade. I've got to admit it's a bit of an odd feeling for me.

I've also been curious about people's travel experiences. Have any of you visited other worlds? Or even other continents on your own homeworld? If you haven't, why not?

And on a final note, I regret to inform everyone that Doctor Eggman has returned home again. He was a great help with the farm, and a good friend.

I have visited most of the continents in my world.

So you got to travel a lot, Mia?

We needed to. There wasn't much time to stop and experience new places.

Traveling for business then? What was so urgent, if you don't mind my asking?

The world.

[That's not very clear. Mia frowns, flipping the edges of pages with her thumb while she tries to come up with a summary that will contain the proper amount of urgency.]

The world was...well, in the end, it was shrinking. Falling apart at the edges and the seams, without Alchemy, and so we had to restore Alchemy to the world.

[Not their original quest. Thank goodness they found out the truth.]

Really?

[Well that's...certainly different for a quest undertaken. He sounds fairly surprised.]

So, without Alchemy your world was going to come apart? I've got to confess, I've never heard of anything like that. I've had Alchemy explained to me by various people here, but it doesn't seem like the sort of thing that binds reality together.

Mm, 'come apart' isn't quite it. It was just...shrinking. I don't know what will happen if we fail, but that will probably continue until...

Oh, no- when others here use "Alchemy" they mean something that's a little different. From what I understand, it is still a kind of transformative application in other worlds, but they place much more emphasis on small physical things, and less on viewing it as a larger force.

Fascinating. Not a good outcome, I imagine.

Alchemy seems to have quite a few meanings, really. I've heard of it being used in a lot of different ways, not all of which are transformative.

But what does it do in your world?

I think it is safe to say it holds the world together without sounding silly. [Weyard's magical invisible duct tape.] It increases and enhances the abilities of Adepts like me, too, they say.

[Because although Piers told her they succeeded, and Amiti was proof of a real future, she hasn't seen any of it for herself and can't attest to what Alchemy feels like at all.]

Interesting. So it's a source of power, rather than a name for a set of abilities.

[He sounds like there's something on his mind, a theory that he and Lance had been talking about.]

Can you feel or tap into it here?

Well, I don't know what it 'feels' like in Weyard either. We haven't unsealed it yet. It might not even feel any different. I do feel...something, enough of a something to use my Psynergy, but I thought that was the same thing anyone with 'magic' could feel here.

You'd mentioned that before, and it did seem similar to the Force in more than a few ways...

[He trails off, lost in thought for a moment]

Well, what does that feel like?

Like being connected to the world around you. Feeling life, and the energy that binds the universe together.

Hmm, I suppose it does feel like that sometimes, a little.

[It's hard to say. For her, it's like asking whether she's actively aware of her left leg all the time, or when you remember that you're breathing but it's not like remembering triggered the feeling.]

Well, that's what it's like when you've first learning. Or when you're trying to pull on it very deeply.

For me? Now? It's just become so...intrinsic to me that I don't notice until it's gone.

['Don't notice until it's gone' sounds almost exactly like how she felt on the last draft. Except she does notice a difference between Weyard and here, something subtle that tires her faster even when there are no artificial limits on her power.]

It is kind of like that. A presence.

Yea. Sorry for all the questions.

I've been thinking about this sort of stuff a lot lately, particularly with relation to Luceti. I've got a few ideas, but without evidence, I can't really know anything for sure.

Please don't apologize. I like talking about Psynergy, it's just difficult to explain something that no one else can really see or feel. [Until it becomes water, ice, or actual healing. They see those. Surprise ice is a nice battle tactic.]

May I ask about your ideas?

Well, you know how you can touch your Psynergy here, and I can feel the Force? And other people can touch powers unique to their world here?

I was wondering if there was an explanation, and I started thinking. Everyone who has powers like that explains them in the same way. But we're all from different realities.

[He pauses, trying to put it into simpler words without Galactic terminology]

It occurred to me that perhaps this world is a sort of...nexus? A central point for all realities.

Like the middle of a wheel?

[She has other metaphors but they don't seem to fit as well as this one did.]

I suppose, but if a world like this one is the thing that connects everyone together, it's a bit...worrisome. Maybe that's just a part of how "magic" things work no matter what world it belongs to?

Yes, exactly. Or probably more accurately the center of a sphere.

[Luke pauses, thinking over her statement]

It's possible. The thought that I originally had was that because all these forms of 'magic' are so similar. Perhaps there is some sort of...wells in the middle of this great sphere and magic seeps in to every reality.

That would explain how we can tap into them all here, and how they're all so similar.

But if that's true, shouldn't I be able to, um, cast the spells of your Force as well as Psynergy?

Maybe you are, but you perceive it differently?

I think it's an interesting idea. What about the worlds that claim to not have anything like this?
