13th Transmission: A Year in Review. [Action/Voice]

[Early that morning, Luke rolls out of bed quietly so as not to wake Ami from her Force trance and set about his day. It was a strange thing, really, getting up in the morning and heading into a routine. The week of dreamless sleep had done him a world of good, keeping back nightmares from the draft. Things were getting better. A light breakfast follows, filling the house with smells if housemates are feeling peckish.

For the early part of the day the Jedi went through his typical morning routine. A run around the village, complete with some rather extreme Parkour has him breathing pretty heavy. He stops by the Bakery for a bit of brunch, and then makes his way to the Battle Dome for a bit of practice. Around lunchtime, he can be found at Seventh Heaven and the square before heading out to the Farmland to check on Hamal before heading back to town.

Sometime in the late afternoon, he sends out a Voice message:]

Afternoon everyone, and greetings to any New Feathers who may be listening. As always, I'd like to offer whatever assistance I can. If you need help with something, please let me know.

I've got a bit of a question for anyone who's willing to listen. Is there anything particularly special you do for the end of your first year here? I arrived one year ago, today. And to be honest it's the longest I've spent on a single planet in over a decade. I've got to admit it's a bit of an odd feeling for me.

I've also been curious about people's travel experiences. Have any of you visited other worlds? Or even other continents on your own homeworld? If you haven't, why not?

And on a final note, I regret to inform everyone that Doctor Eggman has returned home again. He was a great help with the farm, and a good friend.

Syre, I wanted to thank you for the notes you left a few weeks ago, and I've got something for you as a token of my appreciation. I can bring it by your apartment, or we can meet somewhere.

Pinkie, I was wondering if you could help me with something. It involves baking, and I'm not very good at it.

[Then he returns shuts the feed.]

(OOC: If you want to run into Luke somewhere, go for it. He'll be all over town today)

... it was a ring. It was really pretty, but... I don't think it belonged to me. It belonged to that boy.

[ A pause, and she actually giggles quietly. ] I'm Xion. It's funny... you and that boy have the same name. He's called Luke, too.

Hmm, well, I'm sorry I can't give you a straighter answer than that. It's entirely possible it's happened before, but clearly it means something to the two of you.

[He blinks to himself, remembering several conversations with a friend who'd long since departed. Kairi had mentioned a Xion...and he'd met a boy named Luke Von Fabre several times.]

His name wouldn't happen to be Luke Von Fabre, would it? A young man with red hair? We've met a few times. And...on a similar note, you don't happen to have a Keyblade do you? Someone I met here, a girl named Kairi, told me about a friend named Xion being here.

That's what's confusing. How can I have something meaningful when... I don't even know him? I guess I knew him before, but... it's just strange.

[ A sigh. Of course, his follow-up questions pull her up short. She makes a noise of surprise, even, before she cuts herself off. Kairi... Kairi was here? And this Luke knows him? And the other boy, too... ]

I... [ She suddenly sounds very hesitant. ] ... yes, that's the boy I spoke to. But I ... no. I don't. [ She tried. She tried to call it, and the Keyblade just wouldn't come. Like before... ] ... you knew Kairi?

The foreigners brought us civil war and what will become the end of our very way of life. They will make people like me obsolete and their ideas will plant the seed of the law that will ban the very things we warriors carry as part of our souls.

Hundreds will die. Hundreds have already died. The race to catch up to the foreign world will create a society that rejects the old ways and breed a nation that will face some of the worst atrocities the future will ever see.

If I could stop it by keeping them away?

Yes.

Without hesitation.

Airborne. Damn, we wouldn't have stood a chance. They didn't even have masks in there for the most part.

[Nothing that would have stopped them from getting infected at least.]

Bomb the hell out of anything that's there?

It's horrible, but it makes sense in a brutal way. An airborne virus like that, once it got out...

"After speaking with Captain Rogers, I'm no longer as troubled by his death, but there were many aspects of the draft that I found... unbalancing. I did not wish to trouble you while you were still coping with Ami's recovery, of course."

[He frowns.]

"I used violence to subdue Korras Blake. He had not yet refused conversation, but I was concerned that he would flee and that I would be unable to pursue him, and..."

[He considers it for a moment. It was not precisely a new emotion, but one he hadn't experienced in a long, long time.]

"I believe I reacted out of panic, rather than out of sound judgment."

Mm, 'come apart' isn't quite it. It was just...shrinking. I don't know what will happen if we fail, but that will probably continue until...

Oh, no- when others here use "Alchemy" they mean something that's a little different. From what I understand, it is still a kind of transformative application in other worlds, but they place much more emphasis on small physical things, and less on viewing it as a larger force.

Well, clearly you did know him. Memories often return with time though.

[Luke replies evenly, his voice gentle.]

Luke is a nice guy. And yes, I knew Kairi. She was a friend, though she left some time ago herself. She explained a lot about your world to me, and mentioned your name.

You ok?

[Oddly enough, Luke can relate to that very, very easily.

His tone changes, less curious and more empathetic. This was something he'd discussed with Ami once, after he'd finished the books on Japan she'd given him.]

Sorry if that brought up painful memories. I know a bit about the history of your country. I didn't think, and my sense of time is probably off.

Sorry, Sir Samurai. [A guess]

That is generally the case. Or sending in droids to clear it out.

And...yea. If it spread? It dooms entire worlds. Thankfully there hasn't been an outbreak in centuries.

[Luke listens, leaning back in his chair and running his hands down his legs. He regards Obi-Wan in silence for a moment before answering.]

You did what was necessary to save the most lives possible. Blake was a hostile element in the past, and you're probably right in thinking he would flee.

Perhaps you did react in a panic. But that doesn't mean what you did was wrong. Biohazard situations are bad enough, but when you have people you care for on the line, you're dealing with a known antagonist, and you've been cut off from the Force?

I can't say I would've reacted any differently. I'd probably have shot him on sight.

Fascinating. Not a good outcome, I imagine.

Alchemy seems to have quite a few meanings, really. I've heard of it being used in a lot of different ways, not all of which are transformative.

But what does it do in your world?

"Lies, chaos, and mischief." And after what she'd seen of him, she certainly believed it. Some of what he said seemed true. Most of it she'd much rather have be a lie. It left things slightly more comfortable. Though it's not something she would have to worry about unless he felt the need to insist upon whatever appointment her older self made with him.

"...I'll try. Whenever I go back I don't...remember much of what happens while I'm here. I usually just think it an odd dream. I'm not certain I can change much, especially if I've been here already as an older woman." It left her uncomfortable, that lingering idea of inevitability. But it was something to remember. Pacing. She would try to keep it in mind.

"They don't have Ballet in your universe, do they? Um." Something to perform for Luke. What did she know that he wouldn't find boring. Oh dear.

Glad to hear that. I can understand why the Malnosso wanted to do that. I don't like it, and I hate how they handled it, but in the end, I'd rather they do that than let it spread to other compounds.

[Whoa. That's a bit too technical for Lance's mind to handle. He knows a lot of stuff about Pokemon, but stuff such as that? Not really. He gets the gist though.]

You mean you think all of our worlds are connected at some point, including this one? I suppose that could explain how we got here.

Gently, Luke smiled and dropped the subject. He knew what was going on, and he didn't want to discourage her any more than he had. So he took a seat and nodded.

"They do not, no. There are many types of dance, but I've never had the chance to see much of it. Why don't you show me something slow, that won't pound your feet or ankles too much?"

Yea, I can agree. The needs of the many, after all.

[Luke nods towards the simulator, flipping his towel over one shoulder]

Don't let me hold you up. Let me know what you think of the surprise.

Exactly. I've started to think that maybe...reality, all reality, is one giant wheel, centered on an axis. A central point. It's possible that Luceti is part of that axis.

[He waves a hand all around them]

It'd explain a lot of things.

That's quite the theory. What would it explain?

[He hasn't exactly been here very long and doesn't know as much as Luke.]

For one, how we get here. For another, how power sources and technology from every world represented here exist.

[He's sounding extremely intrigued]

I mean, think about it? Your Pokemon, the Force, sorcery, magic, even the Malnosso's Shifting technology. This place is a wellspring of technology, power, and knowledge. Where else could such a place with all these things so readily available exist but in some sort of nexus?

[Lance nods as he listens to Luke. This really is interesting.]

You're right. To think that this world is a crossroad to all of ours. We were brought here, but it can't be a one way trip. Others have been sent home, right?

Well, we do know a few things about that. The Malnosso are just as trapped as we are. And that people do return home, some return as well.

[He purses his lips and looks up at Dragonite thoughtfully.]

It didn't really click till now, but that's about the only thing that makes much sense.

Other than ketchup, I only know of Salsa. There's lots of things you can inside an omelette though. If you put onions and peppers in the omelette, you get what's called a Western omelette.

What's the food like where you come from Luke?

Hm? ... No, not waiting, exactly. Mostly just keeping an eye out for a few people, just in case they happen by while I'm here.
