10th Transmission: Fading Moonlight [Action/Voice/Written]
[Action, Town Clinic]
[Luke had intended on doing something nice for Ami that evening, since she was stuck at the clinic on her shift until late in the evening. He'd spent most of the afternoon preparing a meal for the two of them to share, but when he arrived at the clinic he'd found something that turned his blood to ice. Signs of a struggle, papers strewn about, and a hastily scrawled note in familiar handwriting. She'd been abducted. Luke took a moment to take stock of the situation before his anger got the better of him and he slammed his cybernetic fist into the wall, leaving a solid dent. Apparently, Catherine's promise to Luke had meant little to nothing, if she had been taken. That stung. A lot.
Inside he was seething, but outside Luke began cleaning up the mess the kidnappers had left, the food forgotten and responsibility taking over. He could keep the tears out of his eyes, for having failed to protect her, the guilt setting in as it had for Lupin and Adele.
Anyone around the clinic, feel free to poke at him. He later sends a few written messages and a broadcast after he's regained control of his voice and his emotions. He needs to talk, otherwise the anger will take hold again, so...]
[Written, Private to Trafalgar Law]
Law, its Luke. The Malnosso have abducted Doctor Mizuno. In her absence, I will take over her shifts. I feel like I should do something to help out, so that things can keep going smoothly.
[Written, Private to Adele Leblanc]
Adele, I may need your help at the Clinic. Ami's been kidnapped, and I'm going to take over her shifts at the Clinic. If something comes up that I can't deal with, I hope I can rely on you. I feel I should help, so that service isn't interrupted.
[Voice]
Good evening everyone, this is Luke Skywalker. I've got a few things to talk about, so I'd like to say.
First, I'd like to welcome all of the New Feathers, or returning residents. I'm a little late in doing so, and for that I apologize. If you should require help with anything, please don't hesitate to send me a message or come by House 46. I would be glad to offer any assistance I can. The same, of course, applies to any residents, not just New Feathers.
Second, I'd like to extend an offer to anyone who is interested in working with what limited resources we have available to further improve quality of life in the village. I've had some success with Mister Stark and R2D2, as well as Doctor Eggman, in creating some basic technological implements, But technology isn't entirely what I had in mind. I recently became aware that we have a large section of land that is, or was, farmland. I'm wondering if anyone still works with them, and if not would anyone be interested in helping to get them operational again? In light of recent events I am of the opinion that providing food for ourselves when we can would never be an unwise decision. Would anyone be willing to help with this?
Finally, I have a philosophical musing for anyone keen to such things. If one already possesses great power, is it strange to desire more? Down the same vein, what does power mean to you? Is it something you crave for yourself, or for others? And...what good is having power if you cannot use it?
Please, share your thoughts, and take care.

[Action at 46]
You want the power to stop the Malnosso--but all of us do. The nature of this place, as it is right now, means that we have very limited options.
...
...I know its hard. Fujiko was taken on me for six weeks earlier this year, but getting angry about it then didn't do anything. [Though it did earn him a set of broken ribs, several headsmacks, and a near-poisoning by the time Fujiko returned.
This, at least, was something he could understand Luke on. He wanted nothing more than to take the fight to the Malnosso for all that they had done to Fujiko, but there was no way he could harm them from this side of the barrier.]
Is there anything I can do to help you with this? [Because he's not going to tell Luke that he's unreasonable or that he should wait--he would have never done the same.]
[Action at 46]
[She shakes his head and sets down the basket]
How do you cope with powerlessness? That was what my broadcast was aimed at, finding out how other people deal with this. I know very, very well that I cannot take the fight to the enemy, but if I could, you can be sure they would regret it.
[Action at 46]
[Because he would destroy them or die trying to--but, in the end, he was literally nothing more than a man. He had no powers, no high quality technology, and not even any skill with a sword. he was just a man, and a thief. Lupin levels his gaze on Luke as works out how to best explain his methods.]
...you see all that I've been doing for the last month? It's for the very reason you're asking me about. Instead of focusing in on what I can't do, I focus on what I can. In this case, it's trying to get stronger, and ready the playing field for the next move.
Of course, six months ago I really was more of a danger to myself. I was just so frustrated that I wanted to get into a few fights to get it out of my system.
[Action at 46]
[OK, yes, his eyes DID just flash]
You cope by getting into fights and overdoing it, huh?
[Action at 46]
...This place has a way of making people think, Luke. Even me.
You know, you don't have to be Atlas here.
[Action at 46]
[Luke's temper is up though]
Whats worse is that there just isn't any good outlet for this.
[Action at 46]
And Fujiko hasn't? I've been to her what you are to Ami for years--trust me, I know this better than you think.
[Because, in the end, the many things he never told Fujiko were to stop her from worrying further, from breaking more and retreating into her shell of being that seductive spy and assassin. He loved her--but he needed to be her anchor at the worst of times.]
There isn't a good outlet for any of us, Luke. Why do you think I took up Stark's offer of helping him with his fighting arena in the tunnels? But giving into the aggression didn't help her get back any quicker, and it gave her more problems to worry about when she finally did.
...It's hard. It really is.
[Action at 46]
Yes. You're right. I need to find a constructive method of coping. Its why I'm volunteering at the clinic, taking Ami's shifts. I'm also going to start working with making the village as self-sustaining as I can. And if necessary? I'll get one of those damn patches so she won't be abducted again.
[Action at 46]
[He pauses for emphasis and returns the gaze, his own frustration muted by concern.]
But what about you? Ami's going to worry more if she returns to find you a wreck.
[Action at 46]
[Action at 46]
Just remember, for while you're here. If there's anything you need an assist with--and I do mean anything--ask. No strings, no hard feelings, no nothing.
...You're not meant to hold up the sky, Luke. You walk on it.
[Action at 46]
[That is the cheesiest line he's ever been given]
Look, don't worry about me. I'm going to waiting for Ami to get back, yes. And I'll probably be upset. But I'm not going to take on too much. I know my limits.
[Action at 46]
...I'm going to worry, because you're you, and you're my friend. [And one of the few truly good men he can count as such.]
If you somehow do take on more than you realized, promise me that you'll at least ask me for an assist. Even with all of you're strength, you're still a man; there will be times when it becomes hard to carry everything for everyone.
[Action at 46]
[Not really, you're still a lot worse off than he is though]
You're still under house arrest though.
[Action at 46]
This wasn't a ploy to get out of that, you know!
[Action at 46]
[Relenting a bit]
[Action at 46]
Thanks--that'll be helpful.
You know, I do know some basic first aid if you ever need an extra hand in a pinch. My friends and I have had to doctor each other many times, so it's not like we're strangers...
[Just. Hospitals.]
[Action at 46]
[He raises an eyebrow]
Why are all the windows open?
[Action at 46]
He glanced over at Luke when he asked his question and sighs--was it really not obvious?]
It's to get a cross breeze. I'm still trying to contact Kipinn, but I haven't been able to get outside. Even if I could, apparently he likes the mountains the best. At this stage...the altitude would make me ill. So, since I can't get to the beach to get a good breeze, I figured I'd use what we have available.
That means opening all of the windows and letting physics do its job.
[Action at 46]
[He shrugs]
Are you...contacting one of the spirits? I've begun talking with one myself, but its slow going.
[Action at 46]
[A sigh.]
I've been trying and failing. Who have you been trying to talk to?
[Action at 46]
[Action at 46]
[Action at 46]
[Action at 46]
That's new. When did this happen?
