9th Transmission: Walking a mile in another Jedi's shoes [Action/Voice]

Groaning, Luke Skywalker rolled over in the warm sun of an early morning. Sitting up, he squeezed the bridge of his nose, blinking all around him. He was out by the lake, and he was still in Luceti. All he could remember was being woken from sleep by a loud banging at his window, and then blackness. Something felt off, that was sure, but he wasn't sure what. Shakily, he got to his feet and dazedly made his way over to the lake.

As he...looked into the lake, her jaw dropped, eyes widening. A female face stared back with the same shocked look, clad in New Feather garb. A familiar face, that of Grandmaster Sunrider, greeted him. To his further surprise the reflection began to speak, echoing through his mind. When it finished, things were a lot clearer. And so was her mind. Turning away from the water, Nomi Sunrider stared at the journal on the ground in front of her. Deep in the back of their mind, Luke Skywalker nodded in agreement. There wasn't much else to be done, if Luke was to be in control it would tax both of them. He knew she'd slipped him into a trance to spare him the pain of experimentation, and now she was willing to take his responsibilities until whatever the Malnosso had done could be undone.

Taking the journal, Nomi opened it up and Luke sent out a message in a distinctly...female voice. They agreed that not everyone needed to know what was going on...at least right away.

[Voice]
"Greetings residents of Luceti. This is Luke Skywalker, and...I'm having a bit of a situation. I was taken by the Malnosso, and I'm feeling a little weak. I am out by the lake, and if anyone could bring a spare suit of clothing, some water, and some pain killers I would be in your debt."

Later that afternoon, and all week, Luke/Nomi can be found around the village. Its pretty weird, even for a Jedi, so...expect lots of confusion and mostly to be speaking to Nomi. Feel free to poke at them throughout the week, just denote a day.

You didn't ask for specifics. What would you like to know, Lupin? I'm not so closed off that I won't answer questions.

I just wanted to be sure that you two are okay, because that level of stress can't have been easy or good with the strange situation you're in. There's so much being said, and yet so much being unsaid. I'm having to dig through journal entries because no one is really saying anything--and even there, there's only so much conversation that happens over these channels.

Really, I am fine. Luke is fine. Genuinely. Its a little strange, to be sure. I'm not used to having two minds in my body, and neither is Luke. The battle, however, was something we could both focus on. We took a vow to protect the village and we did the best we could. I acted as a telepathic hub and acted as a conduit for Battle Meditation. Luke fought. We separated.

["We separated." It was something he rarely thought about since that Shift that brought the Commander to his attention. He liked the bleed over...but there was too much overlap, and several relationships were changed because of it. He smiles, gladdened to have just a little more information and the knowledge that his concerns were unfounded.]

It sounds rough, but it must have been good for both of you. First real time that happened in a few months, huh?

Battle? Or separation? It was nice having something concrete and immediate to focus on, I admit. Luke does too. Its almost like we were getting bored.

[Lupin chuckled at her words.]

Welcome to Luceti then, Nomi. I've been bored since December!

Yes, of course you would have.

[She sips her drink]

You've yet to try stealing anything, though.

[He grins.]

I had something in the works, but that has to be put on hold now for the forseeable future because of recent events.

[Still grinning, he takes another bite of his sandwich to stall for time.]

You mentioned this before. I'm sorry that your death put that on hold.

[She sadly looks down, really wishing there was a way to get back at the enemy for that]

[He swallows quickly, looking awkward at the sudden melancholy.]

It's kinda hard to pull off a high flying stunt when you need to be careful of how you move. Adele suggested I try dancing, but that's not going to help immediately.

...if I can figure out a way, I'll make it work.

Have you considered meditation?

[She smiles, wondering if he'd go for it. It'd helped her in the past]

How, exactly, is meditation going to help me stand?

[It made no sense to him, and he was naturally a very impulsive man. His attempts at mimicking Goemon before failed spectacularly and, while he saw how the meditative techniques that the Ronin engaged in were helpful, they weren't anything he took to naturally.]

By learning to center yourself you can increase your muscle control.

[Said as simply as it can be]

[Which would help with balance, in the end. Lupin watches her carefully for a moment before glancing away.]

...we can give it a shot. I've had bad luck with this sort of thing before.

You make it sound like you have no faith in my ability to teach. I don't care how impulsive you are, young man. I have taught wild gundarks to sit still. I promise you can learn to meditate.

It's more the quiet than anything...[But her argument left no room for a counter. Lupin chuckled.] All right then, Master Sunrider. I'm not as bad as a gundark, but I can be pretty bad about being quiet and still for so long.

Did I say anything about being quiet? Meditation comes in many, many forms, my dear.

[A throaty laugh]

...I'm just going to trust you on that one, because I haven't seen a meditation that didn't involve being quiet.

When I taught my daughter to meditate, I did it with walking.

...Walking?

[That was new.]

Meditation is finding your center, not sitting in a room being quiet.

[Duh doesn't everyone know this?]

[He did know it, but the only one he's observed was Goemon.]

...so walking will help with that, huh?

[It reminded him of his hours as a kid spent opening and closing padlocks with a pair of safety pins he borrowed off of his grandmother. It was a repetitive tast, but he could let his mind drift as his hands worked.]

It can. Some minor, repetitive task that you can do without thinking about it works as well. I think walking would be good for you, since you need to learn to walk again.

[She was a Jedi Grandmaster; Lupin could see the point behind her words. That didn't stop his commentary.]

I can walk fine, you know. I just have to plan my movements a little differently is all.

Mind yourself, dear. Stand up, and walk around the room three times without stumbling.
