9th Transmission: Walking a mile in another Jedi's shoes [Action/Voice]

Groaning, Luke Skywalker rolled over in the warm sun of an early morning. Sitting up, he squeezed the bridge of his nose, blinking all around him. He was out by the lake, and he was still in Luceti. All he could remember was being woken from sleep by a loud banging at his window, and then blackness. Something felt off, that was sure, but he wasn't sure what. Shakily, he got to his feet and dazedly made his way over to the lake.

As he...looked into the lake, her jaw dropped, eyes widening. A female face stared back with the same shocked look, clad in New Feather garb. A familiar face, that of Grandmaster Sunrider, greeted him. To his further surprise the reflection began to speak, echoing through his mind. When it finished, things were a lot clearer. And so was her mind. Turning away from the water, Nomi Sunrider stared at the journal on the ground in front of her. Deep in the back of their mind, Luke Skywalker nodded in agreement. There wasn't much else to be done, if Luke was to be in control it would tax both of them. He knew she'd slipped him into a trance to spare him the pain of experimentation, and now she was willing to take his responsibilities until whatever the Malnosso had done could be undone.

Taking the journal, Nomi opened it up and Luke sent out a message in a distinctly...female voice. They agreed that not everyone needed to know what was going on...at least right away.

[Voice]
"Greetings residents of Luceti. This is Luke Skywalker, and...I'm having a bit of a situation. I was taken by the Malnosso, and I'm feeling a little weak. I am out by the lake, and if anyone could bring a spare suit of clothing, some water, and some pain killers I would be in your debt."

Later that afternoon, and all week, Luke/Nomi can be found around the village. Its pretty weird, even for a Jedi, so...expect lots of confusion and mostly to be speaking to Nomi. Feel free to poke at them throughout the week, just denote a day.

[It might not have been much more shocked than Ami. That voice, that appearance in the picture window of the journal, all of it was, well, not Luke as she knew him. But of course, the message itself explained that, and she shook her head quickly to clear it before answering with a voice message herself.]

Luke?! [She didn't, quite, moderate the surprise in her voice.] Luke, are you alright? [Clothes, water, painkillers...] I can bring those things, if you want. I can come to the lake right now.

[Let's see...] Ah, but, what about size, for the clothes?

[This wasn't entirely unexpected. Nomi had guessed that Ami would respond first, the kind doctor sharing a rather intriguing connection with Skywalker. She elects to respond, evenly and coolly to show that its alright]

Ms. Mizuno, this is Nomi Sunrider. Luke and I. We're alright. I'd appreciate it if you could come, and quickly. Its so warm, I'm a little worried about dehydration. I don't know how long the Malnosso had us.

[A bemused tone follows a pause.]

And...the size? Medium would be best. I'm not much bigger than you are, if that helps.

[She grips the journal in both hands as she hurries through the house. A bit larger than her... She has some clothes that are a bit too big for her, those might work now. They're the type she usually wears: modest, with a passing nod to fashion but not eye-catching.

Next: painkillers. That's easy. She keeps some on hand anyway.

And water. She quickly fills up a large container. If there's a chance of dehydration, she'll have to make sure it's drunk slowly...]

I'm coming right now, then. In the meanwhile, could you explain the situation a little more?

[...Something's off.]

...Luke?

[There was something strange about Luke's voice during the audio feed from earlier that left Lupin more than a little concerned--but he couldn't get out there without needing assistance himself. Instead he waited, and listened carefully as he struggled to retrain his sense of balance through the overlying vertigo. With every movement as a possible trigger, there was no safe and secure way to do this. All he could do was put on his glasses as a physical reminder and power through for now.

Sitting and resting would do nothing.

It was the afternoon when he got himself together enough to head down to Luke's apartment, having slept through the initial broadcast and most of the morning. The walls were support enough, and would have to do until he could get himself back on track. He didn't want to think about how long that would take.

He knocked three times in succession on the door before opening it and leaning heavily on the frame. One hand held his head in a vain attempt to keep everything still.]

Hey, Luke. You here?

[Nomi takes a seat in the grass, not sure she'd be able to make the journey right now. The Force is so weak here, the confusion of swapping minds and bodies doubling it]

Yes. Yes of course, you don't know yet, do you?

[Her tone is strained, clearly a headache]

A month or more ago now, I awakened in Luke's mind. You knew that, if I recall correctly. I...we...were taken by the Malnosso, and now we're like this. Switched. Its quite befuddling, but that appears to be all that's happened so far.

[Its...definitely not Luke's voice]

Luke is here, with me.

You... just said you were. What's going on?

[From Luke's bedroom, an unfamiliar voice calls out]

Lupin?

[In a flurry, a strange woman darts out of his room and moves closer]

Lupin, are you alright?

Do you not remember me? We spoke, briefly, a few months ago. Luke...and I...we're reversed.

I'm fine...

[He looks at the woman in confusion for a second before catching notice of her green eyes.]

...Nomi, right?

You're correct.

[She offers a steadying shoulder and a stern voice.]

Come, you need to sit. With your condition you need to be careful.

...it's not gonna get 'better' if I stay cooped up. [It's only been a couple of days, but he didn't like sitting still. The coddling was bothersome as well.

Regardless, he's not arguing with a Jedi. He accepts, though not without questions.]

So. When did this happen?

[Hurrying, hurrying; which leaves her voice just the slightest bit breathless.]

I remember talking with Luke... [Or more specifically, Luke mentioning he was worried about something else in his mind.] I think he must have been referring to you.

[Which makes her really wish, for a moment, that Luke could tell her more himself, so she'd know how to treat the person in front of her.]

Yes, he was. I apologize for that. My name is Nomi Sunrider, and like Luke I am a Jedi Knight. He and I...have switched places for the moment, it seems. He's in my mind as I was in his.

[She notes the breathlessness and smiles appreciatively]

Please, be careful not to overdo it yourself, Ms. Mizuno.

[His eyes widen in recognition.]

N...Nomi Sunrider?

[Nomi leads him over to the couch before taking a seat across from him, casually crossing her legs and looking at the man Luke held in such high regard.]

It happened this morning. I believe that we were kidnapped just a day ago, but I have no recollection of the date. The things they did to our heads have skewed my sense of time.

The very same.

[She huffs out a short laugh at his reaction]

I apologize if I'm startling you.

[The thief nods at her sentiment in understanding--he was still having a hard time grasping that he lost a week there, even if his reasons were entirely different. He settles into the cushions of the couch, grateful that it was comfortable.]

...That seems like a normal thing. The mind can work very strangely in these circumstances...

Should we be worried now that they've made a move?

You don't need to worry about Luke, he's fine. We're both a little drained, thanks to the Malnosso.

[Luckily, she's in good shape; it's just more the hurry and confusion.]

I understand. Then you're a member of the Order, too.

But I wonder how the Malnosso did that, bringing the consciousness of both, in one body...

I cannot say for certain, Lupin.

[Nomi settles in as well, sighing as the soft chair takes some of the weight off. She cannot show it, but both Luke and Nomi are exhausted]

I do not think this had anything to do with...our actions against them before.

...That's good then.

[Liars are liar's unfortunately; Luke (and by extension Nomi) are among the only ones that Lupin can be truthful around.]

It means that they haven't started punishing us for our decisions. [Yet. The word remains unspoken, but he doesn't feel like he has to say it. Instead, he keeps his gaze on Nomi, genuinely concerned.]

So you don't have any idea as to the why of this either, then. How...how are you taking it? Both of you, since you mentioned Luke earlier. Is he there?

A different Order, but yet. We are from nearly 5,000 years apart, which makes quite a difference in Galactic history.

[And if there could be a verbal shrug, Nomi just did it]

I have no idea how they did it. I imagine its related to Shifting, though.
