Eighth Transmission: A Jedi turns 30. [Action/Voice, Forward Dated to May 24th]

Action

[Today, Luke is fairly active and out and about. The sleeping troubles caused by the possessive ghost of Nomi Sunrider were getting him down, but for the time being the ancient Jedi in his head seemed content to let him have THIS day. He wakes up quite early, and instead of his usual exercises and meditation, he can instead be found at the item shop, riffling through a myriad of junk like he does periodically, checking for objects from home. Today, he's feeling particularly lucky, and...as luck would have it he finds something. A package of cards, with strange, circular cards covered in Corellian script. Pocketing them, he makes his way around to the bakery, picking up a few pastries, and even sits down in the tea house, thumbing through the cards with a happy look on his face.

Eventually he makes his way home, stopping to pick up food from a shop. When he gets home he takes great pains to clean the entire house, with the help of R2D2 and a trio of small remote droids that he'd finally finished constructing.]

Leia, I know this transmission won't reach you, but it wouldn't feel right to not send it. Happy Birthday. Give my warmest regards to Han and the kids.

Good afternoon everyone. I wanted to say thank you to everyone who's helped me cope with the troubles I've been having these past few weeks. They seem to have subsided for the moment.

Also, today is my thirtieth birthday. I'm not really sure what birthdays mean in your worlds, but in mine it is a day for family and friends to get together and have a meal. Most of my family is not here, but I would very much like it if people would stop by and share some sort of food with me. Anyone is welcome, as I'm always glad to make new acquaintances, and its considered auspicious to make friends on one's birthday. I'm happy to prepare food from my home, as well, should anyone be curious enough to try it.

If you are available, my door will be open to anyone today. Community House 5, Room 24. I'd very much like to have people visit.

[With that, he closes the feed, the seal of the New Republic broadcasting for a brief moment]

[Yuan manages a mild smile, if only because he hasn't forgotten the sincerity with which Luke offered his aid back then. He doesn't enjoy socializing too much, but he has every intention of being civil.]

I've been alright. Its nice to see you without your mana in flux. That was a most perplexing injury, I must admit.

[Its alright, he remembers you being a bit standoffish and more than a little curt, but it didn't bother him.]

[He shrugs his shoulders in a somewhat helpless manner.]

One can always count on the Malnosso to get creative with their experiments.

Its true. Still, I was wondering how you were.

Let me reintroduce myself, properly this time. I'm Luke Skywalker, Jedi Knight.

[He offers a hand]

[Yuan sure hopes it isn't too easy to read off him that he didn't remember Luke's name until the man said it, just now. He shakes Luke's hand firmly.]

It's a pleasure to meet you, Luke. [He'd offer his full name with a title, but not only do his titles not apply anymore, they were only relevant within secret organizations.] ... I don't think I had much of an opportunity to thank you for your assistance, but know that you have my gratitude.

[No, but they never formally met, and thats Galactic protocol]

Oh, don't mention it. Here we've all got to look out for one another. If we don't, where does that leave us?

... That's a fair point. Even so, I am in your debt.

[Would Yuan have done the same for Luke if the roles has been reversed? Yes, though he wouldn't have been quite as insistent about it.]

[That brings a smile to Luke's face]

Well, if that's how you feel, consider it repaid if you'll have tea with me. Today is my birthday, and it's good luck to meet people on one's birthday.

[A birthday? Yuan would only feel guilty if he tried to weasel his way out of it now. Though, he likely would've accepted the offer even if it wasn't Luke's birthday.]

Is that so? Then, I suppose I'll have to take you up on that offer. ...How old have you become?

Just thirty. Nothing terribly special, but its my first birthday outside the Galaxy.

Hm... Thirty is considered a bit of a milestone, where I'm from. [Not that Yuan ever passed that one physically. His body got stuck around the age of 26.]

Do you need some time to browse the store, first?

Actually, I see what I came for already.

[Luke walks over and picks up a packet of Sabaac cards, clearly a "gift" from the Malnosso as nobody else would even recognize them.]

I check periodically for things from home.

New belongings still arrive after all this time?

[He actually looks a little surprised at that. He was under the impression that true belongings arrive around the same time their owner does, and what appears in the store after that is only trivial things like food. Granted, he didn't have enough treasured belongings back home to verify this assumption for himself. All he needed were his clothes, his weapon and his engagement ring.]

Sometimes. These are just playing cards, fairly unique to my world.

[He shrugs. They're his cards from home, right down to the wear and tear on the box]

Just...junk, really. But familiar junk.

[He glances down at the pack of cards, smiling lightly.]

Value isn't only determined by the amount of money you pay for something.

Quite true. These cards were a gift from a friend, in truth. Lando Calrissian, the luckiest scoundrel I've ever met. The man has won entire planets with these cards.

["Won entire planets"? Yuan hopes that's a figure of speech, but he's learned quite early on that you can never be too certain.]

Are you a gambling man, yourself?

[Sadly, he is not exaggerating...freakin' Lando]

Oh, me? No. Lando gave them to me before a mission, saying they'd bring me luck. I know how to play but only for fun.

Good man. [Yuan strongly disapproves of gambling- if only because he keeps losing when he tries it himself. Either way, he'll start leading the way to the door, then.]

[Luke nods and follows]

Not the gambling type either, are you?

Not at all. What you may gain isn't enough to risk losing what you bet.

[Once they've left the shop, he stops in his tracks for a moment.] I suppose we'll be going to the tea shop?

That would be the most likely place to find tea, wouldn't it?

[Luke's in a good mood, forgive him, haha]

And no, gambling is rarely worthwhile.

[He gives a mild scowl at the teasing, but decides to just let it slide. The tea shop it is, then.]

What sort of games do you play with those cards?

Sabbaac and Pazaak, two games from home. The first is like Poker, the second is a form of Solitaire. Do you prefer other games to card games?

I'm not much of a 'game person' in general. I prefer to spend my time more productively. [Buzzkiiiilll!]
