Eighth Transmission: A Jedi turns 30. [Action/Voice, Forward Dated to May 24th]

Action

[Today, Luke is fairly active and out and about. The sleeping troubles caused by the possessive ghost of Nomi Sunrider were getting him down, but for the time being the ancient Jedi in his head seemed content to let him have THIS day. He wakes up quite early, and instead of his usual exercises and meditation, he can instead be found at the item shop, riffling through a myriad of junk like he does periodically, checking for objects from home. Today, he's feeling particularly lucky, and...as luck would have it he finds something. A package of cards, with strange, circular cards covered in Corellian script. Pocketing them, he makes his way around to the bakery, picking up a few pastries, and even sits down in the tea house, thumbing through the cards with a happy look on his face.

Eventually he makes his way home, stopping to pick up food from a shop. When he gets home he takes great pains to clean the entire house, with the help of R2D2 and a trio of small remote droids that he'd finally finished constructing.]

Good afternoon everyone. I wanted to say thank you to everyone who's helped me cope with the troubles I've been having these past few weeks. They seem to have subsided for the moment.

Also, today is my thirtieth birthday. I'm not really sure what birthdays mean in your worlds, but in mine it is a day for family and friends to get together and have a meal. Most of my family is not here, but I would very much like it if people would stop by and share some sort of food with me. Anyone is welcome, as I'm always glad to make new acquaintances, and its considered auspicious to make friends on one's birthday. I'm happy to prepare food from my home, as well, should anyone be curious enough to try it.

If you are available, my door will be open to anyone today. Community House 5, Room 24. I'd very much like to have people visit.

[With that, he closes the feed, the seal of the New Republic broadcasting for a brief moment]

[Lupin smiles bitterly at the failed filter, memories of the Commander slipping through for a moment. Of course Luke would make mention of it to his sister, even while in this bizarre purgatory. There was a momentary tug at his heart--the Commander's unrequited feelings hadn't gone away either.

He shoves the bitterness aside before he makes the post, not wanting to worry Luke on that day. They were friends, after a fashion. It was only right that he speak up.]

Happy Birthday, Red. Thirty's not a bad year, really. You don't feel any different.

[Luke had expected some comment about the age from Lupin. He knew the thief was going to comment on the age thing]

I don't feel too different, no. But cake? Hmmm, I'm fond of chocolate. Bitter chocolate. I picked up one at the bakery, if you'd like to come by.

You've all ready picked one up? [Lupin was going to need to one-up that now...] I'll be up today--sounds like it could be nice to just relax for a day.

[Ami's face in the picture window is smiling a bit more brightly than normal, an effort made for the birthday.]

Happy Birthday, Luke! You should have told us when it was before now! We could have all celebrated with you.

Thank you, Ami. I didn't want to trouble anyone too much, since I really do prefer simple things. If you'd like to come by, I've prepared food. I don't really enjoy big parties when I can spend time with people on a more personal level.

[It may be the 30th birthday for Luke, but for Anakin it was the first one he got to experience so far. And, well, it's kind of special to him. Though it did feel a little incomplete without Leia. Maybe one day he'd get to meet her, and maybe one day even get to celebrate both Luke's and Leia's birthday together. It was a nice thought.

This also brought up something Anakin didn't even realize he'd have to consider: What does a father give their son for his birthday? He'd never even been on the receiving end. Nor were gifts something he was used to giving, since Jedi renounced owning possessions and he didn't actually own anything to give, and wasn't able to buy anything. It had even taken two whole years before he managed to give Padmé a devotion-gift. Still... he wanted something to mark this occasion. Not that he was trying to push the whole father thing on Luke, either, since the situation was still very unusual. But it was still important.

Remembering something he had found in the shops a little over a week ago, Anakin wraps it in a piece of cloth and carries it with him as he goes to find Luke. Maybe it won't be the best gift to give, but it will serve its purpose until Anakin is able to give a more appropriate one.]

You've really been on cleaning spree.

I have. I guess you saw my transmission? I hope you don't mind if we have visitors, I just felt that it would be best if I cleaned up a bit before anyone came by.

[He laughs]

It wouldn't be good for the Jedi to present themselves as a pair of lazybones that can't clean their home without droids, yea?

[She'd known it was Luke's birthday- well. Levarre had known. She'd written a list of important dates and had made it obvious which were more important than others. Even if she hadn't that bittersweet filter tugged at her enough for Adele to brave the kitchen.

Birthdays mean cake.

She's terrible with cakes.

And after an hour or two of work is is very obviously a sad mess of a cake she's scraped together on her own. The counters are dusted with flour and cocoa powder, icing is dripped everywhere but. She has a cake. Three layers of cracked, crumpled chocolate with icing that is more of a syrup than anything else.

...it was the thought that counts.

She lines the bottom of the box for the cake with plastic so it will not drip on the walk over, takes half a pill and cleans the kitchen while she waits for the medication to kick in. Then- the cake goes in the box, and she heads out the door.

Adele is still a little dusted with flour on her cheek and the cuffs of her blouse, and her hair is a little wild, but she's at his door soon enough. With only a few sideways glances to the stairwell. She's a little proud of how much it isn't bothering her. Enough that she almost forgets to knock, but she does. And waits.]

[Luke opened the door shortly after the knock, smiling]

Good afternoon, Adele. Please come in.

[He waves her inside with a grin]

"... Alright, I didn't know when your birthday translated to in the Earth year, so this kind of caught me by surprise. I'll have to come up with a gift for you later.

Yes, it is my birthday. I turn 30 today, haha. But its not necessary to bake anything. I've made a lot of food, if you'd like to come by and try some. I really don't like having big things happen on my birthday, just small get-togethers.

[Upon hearing Luke's broadcast over the journals Sabriel sets herself to head into town to find something for him. If she had known earlier she would've made it a point to have found a suitable gift the day before but a last minute gesture will have to do. Now back to her proper size she can easily rush about the town square to gather things, thinking back to when they had first met and Luke mentioned a certain type of food he enjoyed.

By the time Sabriel makes it to Luke's room she has a large take-out container of chicken chow mein (she had been assured it had both chicken and noodles in it), a bottle of wine (easily re-gift-able if he didn't drink wine and appropriate for a man his age) and a small parcel of fragrant wildflowers inside a pocket of a folded handkerchief as something from her. Think of it as a throw back to their chat in the forest when she carried her in his pocket. With everything tucked in a large gift bag she gives his door a clear knock.]

[There's a brief, sharp intake of breath that is almost a shriek as this particular fanboy realizes he lives down the hall from a freaking Jedi Master.

[Obi-Wan slumps in very late in the evening, looking, ever so vaguely, like hell warmed over. Not injured, just mussed, rumpled, and thoroughly exhausted. He is holding his journal, his finger tucked between pages as if to hold his place.]

"I've been catching up. It seems I've missed a significant occasion."

[He smiles, though it's a weary smile.]

"Happy Birthday, Luke."

[Luke dashes across the room to offer a steadying hand]

Obi Wan! Are you alright?!

[Luke isn't the only one searching through the wares of the item shop, today. Yuan is always on the lookout for interesting appliances to take home and tinker with. He's found that disassembling otherworldly technology and drawing blueprints of it has a very calming influence.

The moment he realizes someone entered the store, he glances up from a box of assorted devices. After a few long seconds, a look of recognition dawns on his face. It's that man who can sense lies. He's sure introductions were exchanged back when they first met, but now he's blanking on a name.]

[Luke feels eyes on him, and turns, his cool cerulean eyes settling onto the blue-haired man. It took him a moment to recognize him without the magic bleeding off him, but he doesn't forget names.]
