Eighth Transmission: A Jedi turns 30. [Action/Voice, Forward Dated to May 24th]

Action

[Today, Luke is fairly active and out and about. The sleeping troubles caused by the possessive ghost of Nomi Sunrider were getting him down, but for the time being the ancient Jedi in his head seemed content to let him have THIS day. He wakes up quite early, and instead of his usual exercises and meditation, he can instead be found at the item shop, riffling through a myriad of junk like he does periodically, checking for objects from home. Today, he's feeling particularly lucky, and...as luck would have it he finds something. A package of cards, with strange, circular cards covered in Corellian script. Pocketing them, he makes his way around to the bakery, picking up a few pastries, and even sits down in the tea house, thumbing through the cards with a happy look on his face.

Eventually he makes his way home, stopping to pick up food from a shop. When he gets home he takes great pains to clean the entire house, with the help of R2D2 and a trio of small remote droids that he'd finally finished constructing.]

[Voice: failed filter to Leia Organa Solo]

Leia, I know this transmission won't reach you, but it wouldn't feel right to not send it. Happy Birthday. Give my warmest regards to Han and the kids.

[Voice: sometime during the early afternoon]
Good afternoon everyone. I wanted to say thank you to everyone who's helped me cope with the troubles I've been having these past few weeks. They seem to have subsided for the moment.

Also, today is my thirtieth birthday. I'm not really sure what birthdays mean in your worlds, but in mine it is a day for family and friends to get together and have a meal. Most of my family is not here, but I would very much like it if people would stop by and share some sort of food with me. Anyone is welcome, as I'm always glad to make new acquaintances, and its considered auspicious to make friends on one's birthday. I'm happy to prepare food from my home, as well, should anyone be curious enough to try it.

If you are available, my door will be open to anyone today. Community House 5, Room 24. I'd very much like to have people visit.

[With that, he closes the feed, the seal of the New Republic broadcasting for a brief moment]

[Luke smiles even more widely, gesturing for Billy to enter. Its hard for him to not grin like a goof with the young man's enthusiasm.]

Its an honor to meet you as well, Billy. And thank you, I'm told ice cream goes very well with cake.

Do you like tea?

[Oh man oh man. He almost asks for coffee instead - his personal preference - but then it occurs to him that the last thing he needs is caffeine to make him more wired, so he nods, stepping into the apartment and trying not to stare in awe. It's probably not that spectacular as far as apartments go, it's more the fact that it's Luke Skywalker's apartment that just.

...God he is such a fanboy.]

Tea's great. And cake isn't the same without ice cream. Have you had it? ...Do they have ice cream in space?

[No really, its OK to stare Billy. Luke barely notices as he slips into the kitchen to prepare some tea. R2D2, however, may just notice. The little droid rolls up and beeps curiously.

From the kitchen Luke calls back out]

Yes, I've had ice cream. Its not common on Tatooine, but elsewhere in the galaxy its a popular treat. Don't mind R2, he's just wondering who you are, and why you're in our apartment. Since Anakin found him, he's been a little cranky.

[Oh wow, he's even got R2!? Billy kind of stares at the droid helplessly for a long moment, then crouches down to be more at eye-level, peering at every curve and flap and panel and guh this is amazing.]

Oh, uh... [....] Hey, R2. I'm Billy, I live down the hall.

[The droid beeps a bit, and spins...while Luke returns with two cups of tea and some cake sitting on a platter]

Here you are, Billy. I hope you enjoy it. The cake was a gift from Ami Mizuno, a friend of mine.

[He makes his way to the table and sits, gesturing for Billy]

So, it seems you know a lot about me, but I know nothing of you. Can you tell me about yourself?

[Oh, that sounds fair. Billy gives the droid one last look, brows lifting - he can't tell whether that was approval or what, but he isn't getting zapped, so that's something! - and then heads over to sit down, drumming his fingers against one of the teacups.]

Well, uh... it's not that exciting, compared to you, really. I'm sixteen, raised on Earth- New York, if you know anything about my world. My city was kind of a major place for super heroes to gather together - people with powers or tech that could help them fight evil and stuff - so I grew up a big fan of them, and all that cool sci-fi stuff. Like- you know, Star Wars.

[It feels awkward to call it that, knowing that he's talking to the man - the man, not the character, how crazy - who lived through all of it. Who seems more amused that he's a franchise than anything else. There's so much he could say right now, but he's fairly sure that most of it would just come off as embarrassing or ridiculously out of place.

He pointedly does not say that he used to have a bottle of Darth Vader shampoo in his shower or that Han Solo was his first fanboy crush.]

[Luke slides a plate of cake across the table, picking up his own fork and trying a bit. Its good, Ami did know how to cook rather well, though she'd never admit it]

I do know a bit about your world. I've met many from Earth, and a few super-heroes at that. Mr. Stark, I believe he calls himself Iron Man, tells me that he's from New York as well.

[He offers the young man a curious glance. Something didn't feel 100% normal about the boy, but he couldn't place it...]

Are you a super-hero yourself, Billy?

[It's to his credit that Billy doesn't immediately spit out the mouthful of cake he'd managed to bite down on before Luke said that. He very nearly inhales it, though, so for a moment all he can do is cough behind a fist. God... at this rate he should just come out of the closet about this whole super hero thing before hiding it gets him killed.

Still, Luke Skywalker, he's- he's one of the good guys. He's like an original good guy, before almost all of the super heroes even existed. He's someone trustworthy. Even if he technically didn't exist as a real person for Billy until like two weeks ago.]

Uh... k-kind of. I mean, I'm still in training, but... yeah.

[Luke laughs and offers Billy a napkin. He'd meant that to be a surprise question, but was NOT expecting the lad to be chewing]

Oh? You're in training? Is there a school, or are you apprenticed?

[Billy accepts the napkin, coughing quietly into it, then tries again.]

No, not exactly. I'm working with a team, and we're all mostly self-taught. We help each other, though, if that counts.

[He thinks it counts for a lot, personally, but the Jedi thing is all about masters and apprentices, so it might not mean that much.]

It does. Working together, for self betterment is the ideal form of tutelage. I suppose you've guessed by now, but I'm from well after the films ended. The New Jedi Order that I've started, well, we're more a group of equals than we are Masters and Apprentices. We teach one another what we know for the good of all.

[He smiles and takes a sip of tea]

[Billy can't help but smile at that; it's nice to hear. At least some teachers are eager to get out there and help the next generation learn. He and his team are still fighting to be acknowledged by the super heroes they respect.]

I've uh- [He pauses, then coughs into a fist. Awkwardly.] ...There's books. On top of the movies. I've read most of them.

You have? Thats...new. I've heard there were books, but it seems that nobody here had read them until you. Um, may I ask, what was the last thing you remember reading about me?

[This is more than mild curiosity now, Luke's voice is tinged with a bit of seriousness. There is a lot thats happened that wasn't in the films, and not everyone needs to know about a lot of it...]

[Billy pauses mid-sip at that question, brows lifting a little as he peers cautiously at Luke over his teacup. He's been down this road before, and it's not always a great idea.]

I... don't know about that. Hearing about the future when there's nothing you can do about it here... isn't that dangerous?

[Luke nods, knowing what Billy is thinking quite well. He just wants to know how much Billy knows]

I am from roughly ten years after the final film. You can leave out any details after that should you know them. What I'm asking is how much of my past you know. There are things that I've done that...well...we've all got secrets. I feel that some things need to be kept hidden from my father. Anakin is here, and has no knowledge of his time as a Dark Lord of the Sith. He's young, only twenty two.

[...Ah.]

It's been almost thirty years since the third movie came out. There's... been a lot of books since then. I probably know more than you do by now.

[He pauses again, twiddling his thumbs a bit. Maybe it's best to leave it at that. He's really uncomfortable with the idea of sharing someone's future. Messing around with time travel when Kang the Conqueror had attacked was enough to warn him of the dangers of that.]

I won't say anything, though- if... if I meet him. I promise. No one should have to hear all of that.

That is a long time. Do the names Jacen and Jaina, Mara Jade, and Talon Kardde mean anything to you? And...have you ever heard of the Eclipse, Eye of Palpatine, or the Darksaber?

[He's not trying to pry, but those would be the major events and players in his life sense the movies. He does need to get a general sense of what Billy knows, so he'll be able to more accurately gauge how to approach the boy, and get a sense of how accurate that timeline is.]

And I appreciate that. I've been trying to break it to Anakin slowly, over time.

]Jacen and Jaina, but not Anakin 2.0. Billy nods slowly as the names are listed off, lips pursing. Some of those are old, and the memories are a little foggy, but not so much that he can't recognize them. Okay, so that at least gives him a guideline of what he is going to be damn well sure to avoid talking about.]

Yeah... I know about that stuff. Sorry, this must be really awkward to hear- some strange kid knowing all these things about your life...

[Maybe he should have just avoided it.]

Not particularly, you aren't really the first.

[Luke shrugs]

Its not really important, I'm just mildly curious. Its sort of strange but I don't mind. So, what about you then? Do you have any powers of your own?

[Well, that's a relief, at least. He's been so nervous about meeting characters that he's always considered to be fictional and saying something dumb. Like. Calling them fictional. Somehow he's managed to avoid it thus far, but it's nice to have that out in the open so he can try to move past it.

Powers, though... how to explain those.]

Yeah, kind of. I mean, I do, I'm just not sure how to describe them. It's... magic. I can make things happen by, like... wishing for it. Basically.

Magic is enough of a description. I've encountered a wide variety of mages and wizards here in Luceti, so I think I have some idea of what its like. Are you able to use it now, or are you still adjusting to the barrier?

Getting used to it bit by bit. Actually, to tell the truth, I... kind of teleported here to keep the ice cream from melting.

Teleportation? That's spectacular! We should eat the ice cream then, to make sure your effort isn't going to waste.

Oh- right, I forgot.

[Billy half-stands, so eager is he to help, but he realizes at the last minute that, hello, this isn't his apartment. He has no idea where anything is. Which, of course, leaves him standing awkwardly with nothing to do.]

...Uh... spoons?

[And then, he blinks, hands lifting before Luke can respond.]

Actually, wait! C... can I try something?

[Luke nods, his expression curious]

[What could the boy be up to? He's not entirely sure, but he's prepared to be astounded!]
