Eighth Transmission: A Jedi turns 30. [Action/Voice, Forward Dated to May 24th]

Action

[Today, Luke is fairly active and out and about. The sleeping troubles caused by the possessive ghost of Nomi Sunrider were getting him down, but for the time being the ancient Jedi in his head seemed content to let him have THIS day. He wakes up quite early, and instead of his usual exercises and meditation, he can instead be found at the item shop, riffling through a myriad of junk like he does periodically, checking for objects from home. Today, he's feeling particularly lucky, and...as luck would have it he finds something. A package of cards, with strange, circular cards covered in Corellian script. Pocketing them, he makes his way around to the bakery, picking up a few pastries, and even sits down in the tea house, thumbing through the cards with a happy look on his face.

Eventually he makes his way home, stopping to pick up food from a shop. When he gets home he takes great pains to clean the entire house, with the help of R2D2 and a trio of small remote droids that he'd finally finished constructing.]

Leia, I know this transmission won't reach you, but it wouldn't feel right to not send it. Happy Birthday. Give my warmest regards to Han and the kids.

Good afternoon everyone. I wanted to say thank you to everyone who's helped me cope with the troubles I've been having these past few weeks. They seem to have subsided for the moment.

Also, today is my thirtieth birthday. I'm not really sure what birthdays mean in your worlds, but in mine it is a day for family and friends to get together and have a meal. Most of my family is not here, but I would very much like it if people would stop by and share some sort of food with me. Anyone is welcome, as I'm always glad to make new acquaintances, and its considered auspicious to make friends on one's birthday. I'm happy to prepare food from my home, as well, should anyone be curious enough to try it.

If you are available, my door will be open to anyone today. Community House 5, Room 24. I'd very much like to have people visit.

[With that, he closes the feed, the seal of the New Republic broadcasting for a brief moment]

This Aang sounds like a fun guy...any chance you could introduce us sometime? [Like with that violinist, Alexis. Luke had different social circles in Luceti, and sometimes Lupin was tempted to break his rule of not spying on his friends (except Smoker) out of curiosity. He hasn't done so yet.]

...aside from pies, how have you been getting on lately? [It was a casual question, but Lupin was also curious about the subject they spoke of a couple of weeks ago.]

He's young, but he's something of a hero himself. I'd be happy to, you'd like him a lot.

And as for me? I'm fine. Its been easier since Anakin found R2. He's been a great help getting those remotes working. And I've found out more about my mysterious visitor. She's definitely on my side.

Oh, so your visitor's a she? [Lupin would return to the thread with Aang later--Luke's current affairs were a larger concern.] Do we have more information?

Yes. She spoke through me to Sabriel, and a few other individuals who are gifted at dealing with spirits. It seems the Malnosso, according to the spirit, tried to remove her name from my memory. She...stopped them. Her name is Nomi Sunrider, and she's a Jedi from the dawn of the Republic.

Nomi Sunrider...[Lupin trails, and chuckles.] Wow, you really do get all of the strange stuff!

At least she's not doing any harm, though. For all of the stuff that the Malnosso could have done, we should probably consider ourselves lucky that they picked her and not anyone else.

Its quite true. Though, Nomi seems to have been the one to have defeated Exar Kun in ages past, and removed his spirit from me originally. She's been quite...talkative with others here, and a little to me as well.

Truthfully? It may be a good experience for me and for Luceti. She's been nudging people a bit, and helping others where she can.

[Even as the Commander, he was only superficially involved with the Jedi. His job was information, covert operations, slicing--no, hacking. Even now Lupin was baffled by how analogous tasks had very different names between the worlds. He smiles. Even if it was a bit beyond his full understanding, he could appreciate Luke's words.]

Who would have thought that the Malnosso could do something good for once, right? This is probably one of the nicest things that happened in recent months!

...you sure you're going to be okay, though? It's not easy filtering through different memories, especially if the personality behind them is talking to you.

For now, I've no reason to think I'm anything but fine, though all things considered I don't entirely like the situation. If its something from the Malnosso, then its probably going to end up bad.

[Luke feels a tingling in the back of his head, and raises an eyebrow. Really, its not easy sharing brainspace with another]

Do I have a choice though?

[He shrugs.] Probably not. We didn't get much of a choice in being sent to your world, and I didn't get a choice with the Commander.

...It's probably best to see how this goes and try not to worry too much. At least we know that she's not going to do something impulsive or crazy. [Although, Lupin had to admit, he would be curious about what would happen if any of the Jedi in the enclosure decided to take the fight to the Malnosso--if they decided to do that.]

Well, you never know.

[And...as Lupin finishes, Luke's eyes flash for a moment, blue shifting to green. His voice shifts as well, a more dulcet female tone coming out. Clearly, she wants to say something]

No, Mr. Lupin, I won't be doing anything crazy. Though you, I'm not so sure about.

[Lupin stops joking around at the change in voice tone--as a liar and a frightening mimic, such things are hard to miss. He glances over at the Jedi, notes the green eyes, and arches an eyebrow.]

I'm just a prankster...Ms. Sunrider, I presume.

Just Nomi, thank you. You are more than a mere prankster, don't tell me falsehoods or sell yourself short.

[Luke? smiles a half smirk]

Don't worry, I mean you...or Skywalker no harm. I merely wished to speak to you.

Just Lupin here then. I've learned to play it close with my profession here--lectures get boring after a while.

So, how can I help you then? Even when the Malnosso shifted my 'anchor,' I was never heavily involved in any Jedi business.

Oho, no, I'm not lecturing, I'm merely stating a fact. What Luke knows, I know. I just wanted to speak to you, not about Jedi business. Skywalker appreciates your concern, you know.

However...you shouldn't let it consume you. Worry has a way of breeding paranoia, and paranoia leads down a path you do not need to be treading.

[Lupin smiles at the sentiment, appreciating the concern on both of their part.]

I'm all ready a little paranoid, Nomi. It's how I've stayed out of prison for the most part, and how I can still have fun. Knowing the risks actually helps keep me on my toes--the minute you lose that fear is the minute you start making mistakes. Dangerous mistakes.

You don't need to worry. Neither of you.

[A soft laugh escapes Luke?'s lips as he puts a hand on Lupin's shoulder]

Just so long as you aren't allowing your paranoia to control your life. Caution is good, but take all things in moderation. Except for cake and love.

[Luke? grins]

I'm given to understand that you spent a great deal of time working with Skywalker in another reality. Which...leads me to a question. The Malnosso shifted your mind and body, correct? Did the mental changes remain after the fact?

Cake, love, and all of those things!

[Lupin chuckles, not even certain about who he was talking to anymore. The words could have come from either, but--]

The Commander. Yeah. [Of course Nomi would pick up on that. He runs a hand through his hair, trying to think of how to best describe his current situation.] He...Yeah. Kind of. I've got this brain that holds onto data the way a kid holds onto a piece of candy--information can be more valuable than any treasure, after all. I still have all of his memories. Life has been interesting since then.

[Many relationships were altered because of that Shift, not only his interactions with Luke. He coulnd't complain about any of them, but there were times when it felt wierd.]

Interesting. So it seems the Malnosso aren't perfect in their memory erasure techniques. They did fail to erase me, as well. I felt them trying, but...managed to fend them off for a time. I know it must seem strange, speaking to a ghost in your friends body. For that you have my apologies. The Malnosso have yet to see fit to either remove me, or give me a body.

Can you tell me though, is Skywalker's Order flourishing?

It's not that strange--the Malnosso haven't done anything for Red either, but it's being managed decent enough. It was...hard getting reoriented after that Shift, but I think everythings settled back in. It's a little odd because I have his feelings too. Can't exactly look at some people the same way.

But yeah, Luke's Order is doing extremely well. It's amazing the progress they've made in a few short years. You really couldn't be in the mind of a better person. Luke's....brought hope to many, many people.

That gladdens me. When I felt the plight of the Galaxy, I wanted desperately to return. We all did. The Old Masters, even some of the Sith Lords. Balance was utterly lost. And that leads ultimately to the end of times.

Balance is everything, isn't it? I never paid much attention to the specifics. Sometimes I wondered if it was just dumb luck, honestly.

Everything. If the world falls out of balance, something has to step in to fill the void. That something is usually worse.

In this case it wasn't, though. That's the important thing.

You don't know. Luke doesn't know. Palpatine is gone, but another always takes their place.

But I didn't come out to be morbid, and scare you with visions that are as hazy as smoke. I wanted to thank you for being so mindful of Skywalker. You were right to question his spiritual troubles. I feel that I caused him great distress.

...It's a scary thing, having something suddenly different about your mind. Make that doubly so in Luke's case--you know how close to the line he walks. He has the toughest balancing act to maintain that I've ever seen! I was concerned for him, and for others here.

But, it's been a pleasure. I've always liked his story, and actually living and working alongside of him? Actually having memories in his world as one of his comrades? It's pretty awesome!
