[The storm front was screwing with him--storm fronts were always screwing with him, Lupin noticed. The vertigo returned with the intensity of a clingy monkey when a front blew in, and the spins alone were enough to make him want to sleep all day just to wait it out. But the driving rain on the window and his own restlessness were starting to get to him.

He had slept most of the day before, and just avoided unnecessary interactions. Despite his lightheartedness, he was very annoyed... But, he knew that Luke would call him out on that once again. It was time to do something about it, before it became an even bigger wall.

It took little effort to locate Luke, even with using the walls as a guiding support. The dizziness was annoying, but he was determined enough to pull through.]

Uhm. Hey. [He kept his voice light, even as he tried to figure out how to start this conversation.] ...It's pretty wet out, huh?

[Luke was just sitting in his room, fiddling idly with a bundle of metal and wire, trying to see if maybe he could get another lightsaber constructed. When Lupin stumbled in he looked up from his work, wondering if everything was alright]

Yea, I suppose. You alright?

I'm fine--the wet outside just throws things off. I think it has something to do with the barometric pressure. High pressure to low pressure, you know the shebang.

[He sighed, and steadied himself enough to seat himself on Luke's bed with out much problem. If he stayed careful, he could keep the worst of it at bay.]

...its been quiet. What all are you working on anyway?

It probably does. Its pretty rough, the weather. It makes my ears pop, kinda reminds me of Dagobah.

[He swivels around from his desk and holds out what he's working on. Its just a cylinder right now, but the shape should be apparent enough]

A lightsaber for Ami. Why?

Just curious--and now more. Ami-chan's a doctor, why would she need a lightsaber?

[Unspoken was the fact that this was small talk. He needed to talk while he formulated a plan of how to approach his current issue.]

I've been training Ami-chan for months now, Lupin. Its time she had a lightsaber of her own. She's got good reflexes, and given everything thats happened between us, its a present.

[Luke doesn't really get whats up, but he'll talk a bit]

Oh? Did you finally stop beating around the bush with her?

Yes. We've talked about it. Its hard, but she makes me happy, and apparently I make her feel the same way.

[A little cagey, there Luke?]

[Not cagey enough. So Luke does like her--

No, not gonna tease today. Lupin's not feeling it.]

That's good then. So long as she doesn't hurt you, we're gold. [Because he doesn't want to see Luke hurt by a woman, and what he's witnessed of love in his world rarely has a story book ending.]

I don't think she will. Its not like either of us are very experienced at this, so it's a learning process.

I'm just saying. I worry about you guys too, you realize.

I get that. So far, its been nothing short of wonderful. Truthfully, she's the most wonderful girl I've ever met.

[Luke nods. He knows. But this isn't going to get you outside]

You didn't come here to talk about my work, or my love life though. Whats on your mind?

[He knows that, but he doesn't care today. There's another topic he needs to cover.]

All of the stuff I did was so that you guys didn't have to worry about me. I...can't take the worried looks and the fussing, and everyone needs to smile.

I know that, Lupin. I've tried to, thats why I finally talked to Ami-chan. We're all trying to make the best of it. The hand that we're dealt.

Really, we're really trying to make sure you're alright.

...that's the thing. I am all right. I have been moderating things on my end--I'm just not going to wait for the next strike to buckle down.

I gave you a blaster to help with that. When you've recovered a bit more I can train you to fight with a staff. And I like the idea of you contacting the Filial spirits.

Not to mention you have a particular skillset that none of the rest of us possess.

[His voice dripped with sarcasm there--he was a lover and thinker, not a fighter. He was realizing that H needed to be both here.]

[Luke laughs now]

Your skill at infiltration, deception, and retrieval is more what I meant.

Yeah...that was about all I could do on that boat. My bullets were doing nothing.

[While he does appreciate the praise, he's not fully convinced.]

You are aware that there are other thieves, ninjas, and spies in the village, aren't you? What I can do isn't that unique.

And as you've pointed out time and time again? They're all children. You have experience. I rely on experience, not names and job descriptions.

[He did, it was just frustrating to think that those 'kids' also had powers that might have helped them not die. While he had been doing it for their entire lives, he could still be beaten by them in any fight.

That was the key to his frustration.]

It's just annoying, and I've been in a bad mood over this.
