Attention Luke Skywalker

My name is Jean Kirstein. I got your name from Ginia Solana. She told me you work up on the farmland, so you would know about raising livestock. I have a request to ask of you.

[Something he should have asked some time ago, but he's ended up putting off what he anticipates to be a...messy business. Because the request is pretty hefty, and because he has no idea who this Luke guy is, Jean opts for careful military formality in his message.]

[Luke writes back, his handwriting with an odd stilt to it. The message is short and to the point, as he's not one to waste time if someone needs help.]

If it's a request I'm capable of helping with, I'll certainly do what I can.

[Then he'll be his usual direct self, because hemming and hawing is a waste of time.]I have a sheep, a lamb actually, that probably needs to be castrated.

If you never expected to hear a request like this, don't worry, I never expected to be asking it.

[Thankfully it's in writing, because Luke nearly chokes when he sees that question. Castration? Not at all something he's willing to do, knowingly cause pain to an animal that could be trained new behaviors in other ways.]

I'm not sure I can help with that. But, out of curiosity, why do you feel the need to castrate him? I may be able to come up with an alternative solution.

He's [an aggressive little shit, he's itching to write, but he'll refrain for the sake of something like professionalism.] pretty aggressive. Likes to headbutt anything that comes within 2 feet of him, and it gets old really fast.

I was told this would help.

Well, that I can possibly help curb without causing him any real pain. I don't know much about castration, it simply is not done where I'm from.

[But where he's from most animals are either reptiles, carnivorous six foot rats, or the size of elephants. That isn't counting super-predators like krayt dragons.]

I guess it would be a terrible idea to attempt it without having any idea what you're doing. I'd feel kinda bad for the little guy.

What do you propose to do, then?

I'm quite good at giving animals suggestions.

And perhaps you could train him? Curbing those behaviors may be work, but it's kinder than cutting him.

I've trained horses before but not a sheep.

Think you could come take a look at him? That'll be easier than me dragging him to you.
