[She is one to talk. She has the voice of experience. Ami has the grace to look embarrassed at being caught out.]

I just thought, especially since you just came back from battle, too... [that he should stay quiet and recover and rest and let himself heal.]

I did. But I've had a shower. I'll be fine. Everyone else needs my help.

[Says the man with a bandaged leg, bandaids over small cuts on his face, and a bit of gauze over his left hand.]

[Luke, she doesn't know what first-aid you learned, but a shower is not a valid remedy for a leg injury.]

Then you understand why I'm here, too. [If she isn't allowed to bundle you off to one of the clinic beds, then you're not allowed to tell her to take a nap. Fairness and all that.]

[He snorts a faint laugh.]

Ami, dear, I'm not going anywhere unless you drag me. And join me. Because if I have to sleep then you have to come off your shift.

[And that's final.]

[Luke, this is her clinic and she will strap you to one of the beds if she has to.

Ok, not really. But she sees a definite difference between someone tired but who has work to do, and someone injured coming back from a battle still trying to push himself.

... Not that she wouldn't do the same, if she had to. Which is really where he has her.]

For now, we'll both take a short break for tea, and please tell me what happened. [The reports are garbled still; and anyway she'd prefer to hear it from an eyewitness, particularly an observant and insightful eyewitness like Luke.]

[He nods assent to that and steps into the breakroom, already turning on the electric kettle to get things going.]

You know I don't have all the facts. I was only there for the end of it all.

I know; but I want to hear what happened, from someone who was there at the end.

[Not much, because she still put her skills to use for the same effort, but Ami feels a little guilty for not contributing to the fighting.]

[While the water gets started, Luke goes and sags down onto the bed.]

Alright. Well...I guess the first thing to say is that Obi-Wan didn't make it back.

[That stops Ami in mid-motion. Her face is sympathetic at once. She likes Obi-Wan, quite well, and what Luke must be feeling-]

I'm very sorry to hear it.

He'll...be back.

[Missing something.]

Anakin is also missing. He...I think he just vanished.

[She knows he'll be back, but that doesn't take away from the fact something is lost. Venus and Jupiter had lived by the creed that this life wasn't the end because there was a next time, but Ami had never been able to think this time didn't matter.

She worries for Anakin, too. 'I'm sorry' sounds so inadequate, and she doesn't repeat it. She just reaches for Luke's hand, slowly, a way to say she's here.]

[He gratefully takes that hand, and leans in tiredly, just wanting someone to hold. Honestly, there aren't really words for what he's feeling. It should be more than a little clear through the Force Bond, though, that her boyfriend is extremely grateful, and he needs this.]

[It's clear enough, anyway. By now, she's accustomed to the force bond enough - she thinks of it a little like how Usagi always seemed to have an extra sense about the other senshi - to know that her insticts towards Luke are usually nudged by it into the right directions.

She can certainly provide someone to hold, and someone to hold him. She lets him lean against her and presses back enough to let her presence reassure him.]

[He pulls her tight, resting his cheek up against hers.]

Steve and I...couldn't save him. And I just don't know what to do. They overwhelmed us, and had a Shifter. The only reason we're all three not dead is because of Obi-Wan.

For the time being, wait for him. [They're such simple words - and yet they're all she has. What Obi-Wan may very well need is help once he does return. And in her own way, she's saying not to borrow trouble. Not quite yet.]

[Luke nods quietly, just leaning into her, thoroughly exhausted. Mentally he's running on empty, and emotionally he's in the red too. A gentle push would be enough to knock him over, and if Ami wanted she could easily put him to bed and he'd be incapable of arguing...]

[At first, she's in no hurry to do so; he must be exhausted, and she'd rather let them both rest together awhile. After they've had a moment, though, she makes the quiet suggestion.]

I think it would be better if we went to bed.

Honestly...[He huffs out a weary breath.] Yeah. Yeah, let's skip the tea and just...go to bed. Mia and Sakura can handle things for now, and we're no good to anyone like this.

[Well, sort of we.]

I can come back in a little while. [By which we all know she means hours. It's Luke's turn to drag. At least verbally. Considering she could easily fall asleep anyway with a few more minutes of sitting here calmly like this, it won't take much.]

Oh no.

[Luke holds her tight against him, scooting backwards towards the cot.]

You're coming too, dear. I can feel how exhausted you are, and your shift is over.

[Well, she never has been able to hide from him, not really. Ami gives Luke a somewhat rueful smile, and allows herself to be persuaded.]

Alright, then. I'm coming, too.

Good. Then we can just get straight back to work when we've slept enough.

[He flops down heavily and slides over to just make room. Nobody'll bother them here, and even if they would...he's too tired to care.]
