[Luke shrugged and meandered over towards his usual booth]

That it is. I guess you can blame Lando for introducing me to the stuff, but given the lack of jawa juice here in Luceti, it does nicely.

[Leaving Luke to set himself up, Remy ordered for them at the bar, waiting around for the drinks to be prepared before joining his supposed old friend at the booth, sliding Luke's hot chocolate over to him. Making himself comfortable, he slipped off his shades and rested them on the tabletop.]

Know I asked for ya to tell me 'bout myself, but got to ask, where 'xcatly ya from in your timeline?

[Luke accepts the drink with a smile and a nod of thanks before answering.]

Twelve years after the Battle of Yavin. Seven after Endor, when the second Death Star was destroyed.

[Remy wasn't sure what he was expecting in that answer, as it took more than a moment to actually try and place where Luke was from in relation to the only way he knew of Luke's world, via the movies. He was never a Star Wars fan, hell, he was only a kid still on the streets when the last one had came out. Of course he had seen them, but it had been years ago ~~(ignoring the two apparently seeing it last time he was here)~~ and he never memorized any of the location. However, who didn't know what a Death Star was?]

'nd ya get thrown into this place, after all that, to find ya mère 'nd father still alive. [Tactful Remy, in great taste. May had been a movie in your world, but wasn't for Luke.]

Uhh, sorry. Stupid thin' to brin' up.

[Luke waves a hand, unconcerned by it all. He was fairly well used to it at this point.]

Don't worry about it. It's a little different than all that anyway. The war doesn't end at Endor, it's still not over. Palpatine, the Emperor, had a lot of lieutenants and generals who stayed loyal to his ideals or went off and became warlods. I've spent the last few years consolidating the New Republic's power and rebuilding the Jedi Order. Luceti's a bit of a break, honestly.

And as for my parents, they arrived together, last September. I'd been here a lot longer than them. My sister was here too, briefly.

That some family reunion. [Please don't let that happen to him, he would rather not bring family here... No reason to expose anyone here to that.]

So, my previous self was here longer than ya. How ya two run into each other?

[Luke thoughtfully sips his drink, trying to remember just how he'd met the other Cajun.]

It was a couple of years ago, on a mission. We were supposed to scout an area for the Malnosso, and he was working with me, Dr. Mizuno, and several others without engaging the cultists.

[Stealth work? Sounds about right.] 'Supposed'? Quoi, thin's turn nasty?

[This was all so surreal. Talking to someone he knew of as Mark Hamill, but was actually the Luke Skywalker. Eh, well as far as Luceti went, suppose it was pretty normal. Easier just to roll with it than get too caught up in the facts.]

No, that was just the assignment. We managed to finish the assigned mission without difficulty, actually. It was roughly two years ago to the day, actually. We made it back in time for Valentine's Day.

Funny how thin's work out. [Not really in this case. Someone else had been living his life and Remy had no clue about it.]

'nd what, friends after that? [Damnit, Remy wasn't able to keep his voice completely neutral with those words, unable to keep some of the disbelief from it.] Not to say ya two weren't friends, just don't see myself in that position. [Not that he wouldn't had used Luke if he needed something from him... kind of like now.]

Something like that, yes. [Though he can't help but raise an eyebrow.]

Is it that difficult to see? I didn't think I was that unfriendly.

More a 'it not ya, it's me' kinda thing. But hell, [Remy paused to take a long swallow of his drink.] Maybe I be a different person back then. Bein' stuck here so long, maybe I got more trustin' in general. Don't take it personally.

Oh, I won't. [Luke smiles broadly] Maybe I just have that effect on people. No offense, but you're not as much of a scoundrel as Han and Lando.

Will have to take ya word on that. [Good to see he hadn't just ruined his chance to get some information.]

How long ya found yaself stranded here?

[No, Luke did promise him answers.]

A little over two years now. I arrived in...I think it's November, on Earth.

'ny repeat visits for yaself? [Might be nice to find a few people in the same boat as he was in.]

[What Remy really wanted to ask was if he had let slip anything he didn't want others to know. If his past self had gotten too comfortable and let Luke and the others know what type of guy he really was. Considering their reactions, he either hadn't, or the others here had taken it a lot better than Remy assumed anyone would.]

As far as I know, no. My father has been here twice, but as far as I know I was the first person from my galaxy to end up here.

[Luke leaned forward now, his expression quizzical.]

But you wanted information about your past self. May I ask why?

[To be honest, or try and make up some lie to tie Luke over for now? Hell, he was stuck here, what did Remy have to lose? Assuming Luke was being honest, and he came across as the type, so why not?]

I got more than a few skeletons in my closet, want to know if he let 'ny out.

[He can read minds, you know, Remy. Luke gives him a smile, open and honest.]

I figured as much. Let me be honest with you, Gambit. Whatever you've done probably doesn't matter here to anyone outside your world. He told me nothing that'd make me think less of you, or him. You may recall, I'm something of a rebel and a wanted man myself.

[Don't make him any more paranoid than he already is, Luke.]

Could be argued ya were doin' it for a greater good, don't think that covers me. [Remy did feel a weight lifted off his chest, or at least it lessened. Luke was a good neutral party to ask, unlike say Rogue, who had been around as long as his previous self seemed to have.]

[He shrugs, still smiling. The lessening of tension in Gambit isn't unnoticed, either. It's good, knowing that he's done something for someone.]

Oui, been warned this all be a war zone in disguse. Just what I wanted, [Remy paused in his sarcasm to take a drink.] to be in someone else's war 'gain.

Something of an understatement. I don't think there are many people that really know just how bad it can be out there.

[He shrugs, sipping more cocoa.]

But it's as much our war as theirs.

Only 'cause we got drafted into this mess. Ain't even gettin' paid this time 'round either. Experiments 'nd cannon fodder. I never had a likin' to be either.

Ah well, could be worse. Think it be a breeze for ya, they be lackin' some of ya tech 'nd powers from ya world.

Well, we were taken by the world, yes. That's just our fate, and we have to deal with it. But if the Malnosso are overrun, we're as dead as they are.

[Luke lets out a hoarse, almost bitter laugh.]

The Third Party is dangerous enough. Shifting is a dangerously unpredictable ability and they're very good at it. Granted, a blaster and a lightsaber far outstrip any weapons they have, but they're able to nullify my power, or my technology, more often than not.
