[Wrong words. Maybe he has been too blunt. No..., not maybe, he definitely has been too blunt. The words coming from his older self fly right past him, even that brilliant referral to Mjolnir.

Alas, he has lost, apparently.

Yet, he feels frustrated. Not even about losing. Luke hasn't even considered his words or listened to them, now did he? Even though they were not exactly well chosen, it has been the truth.

He wonders if the darkness has grown inside of him now. Probably. He turns towards Luke.]

The darkness...has it spread out to my head now?

[And what if Leah would grow fond of his older self? Because in all fairness, his older self would probably look most handsome without a shirt. And Leah was into such things... He slid off the chair slowly and starts to rub the back of his neck.]

[Luke gives the boy a shake of his head.]

No, it hasn't. You're no monster either, you're just frustrated and lashing out. People, good and bad, do that. I am sorry. I do not think ill of you, as I do not think ill of your older self. I just...think it's best if the two of you try and avoid confronting each other. Or interacting. It's better for everyone that way.

[And frankly that was his initial intent. He was a bit better at more aggressive negotiations, anyway. And these two are just...frustratingly difficult.]

[Loki is not fooled by any of this. His tone is still utterly cold as he speaks.]

[He listens to Luke's words and finally shakes his head.]

[Loki stops in his tracks and turns around again. Ah yes, his word. Almost forgotten...sort of.]

[The look on his face hardens.]

[Of course Leah is perfectly able to defend herself and make her own choices, but she is also his bff. The bff of all bff's. And she would probably kick him in the groin for demanding such a thing. And pummel him.

And actually, he would not care if she chose to do so, as long as he was able to protect her.]

[Luke raises an eyebrow, realizing the younger one has made a big, big mistake. He'll have to go looking for this Leah to give her a heads up.]

[Well, good to know who his younger self thinks is most valuable. He wonders if she knows he thinks he can speak for her; obviously he hasn't been beaten about enough by Sif. Maybe he ought to let her know. Such a lesson would do the boy good and be very amusing.

[As amusing as it might be, Loki knows that it would only do him harm in the end to cut off the boy from his friends, because those friends would eventually find out why - likely the boy would cheat and indicate this to them in some way - and then it would be unnecessary trouble on his doorstep.]

[Loki rolls his eyes. He really hopes he was not as big a fool as this when he was that age.]

No, that is not how agreements work, with presumption. I do not agree to that. My word is as I stated.

[ He already said the boy would cease to exist for him, and that is good and enough. Try to use the master's own tricks against him? Idiot. As if he would ever fall for that, where he would let presumption replace what he has spelled out.]

Contacting her, or approaching her would only prove you are not willing to keep this bargain, you see? After all, I have just reveiled the name of the one most dear to me to someone like you.

[There's a sudden sharp look in his eyes.]

[Loki watches the two exchanging looks and notices that it makes his anger rise to new heights. He has a hard time controlling it as well. For a moment he moves to pinch the bridge of his nose, at least until the red disappears in front of his eyes.

Of course fairness is not something that he expected, but it would be rather nice if they would take his words into consideration. They, because to Loki his older self and Luke only agreed with eachother and left no room for negotiation.]

This intervention is complete and utter tripe. But I hope the results are satisfactory, Luke Skywalker. After all, my word has guaranteed the safety of your loved ones.

[Not his.

And he's not even going to bother with his older self anymore. Loki is beyond angry. Angry that he screwed this up, angry that he did not managed to protect Leah from any of this, angry that they did not really listen at all and he is especially angry that he gave his word to nonsense like this.

After a dismissive gesture with his arm Loki turns around and walks off.]

[But Luke had listened. Leah would get looked after by Luke, and the pact would be something he took seriously enough to have R2D2 monitor journal broadcasts. But the boy was the one who came in spouting venom and hate. Not the older one, who had abided by his request to keep it civil.

What do you expect?

Luke gives the boy a sad look, feeling his anger. The child is heading for trouble. And it's only going to get worse.

He turns to face the older Loki.]

Sorry. He is a bit of a handful, I hadn't expected him to just start attacking you right off. I am sorry I put you through that, but hopefully he'll keep his end of the agreement.

I was likely as much of a handful at his age if not more. [Loki shrugs slightly.] I was an utterly hideous child.

My thanks for this. For my part, I will keep my word. I've no desire for that sort of trouble in such an enclosed space.

[Loki rises to his feet.] Perhaps at some point, he will figure out that the way to get answers of people like me is to not demand them, but rather... listen.

[Because he has little doubt Luke knows much, much more than he lets on. Because Luke knows how to listen.]

Perhaps. [Luke doesn't bother to get up, he picks up a bit of food and takes a thoughtful bite. It wasn't too much of a stretch for him to see this one as a troublesome brat too.]

I'm sure he'll grow to resent me too. He seems quick to take offense to anything that doesn't agree with him completely. I think he'll keep his word about it. But I'll keep an eye on the situation all the same.

[Loki laughs.] Oh Luke. He already resents you mightily.

I wouldn't be surprised if he thinks we are in collusion. [He sounds almost amused by that.] Be that as it may. I shall let you know if anything untoward happens.

[A polite nod, and then he heads for the door.]

Oh I'm sure he does.

[Luke picks up a cup of tea and sips]

[Loki pauses to lean his back against the doorframe and gives Luke an amused smile.]

I shall let you in on a secret, my friend, which I think you ought to know. And also explains why I went from rather furious to bemused so quickly.

I already am well acquainted with the young lady in question, you see, Leah of Hel. She's my student.

Ah. I...figured you'd met her.

Please, do try and avoid hurting her feelings. I don't think you will, but you know how teenagers are.

[He raises an eyebrow.]

The young lady is eminently more rational and reasonable than my younger self.
