[Alia removes her head from her hand, and looks over to Luke. If the look in her eyes didn't say enough, maybe what she has to ask will.]

Where's Lupin? I can't get to him through the journal, and he's nowhere in sight.

He's left the house.

[Luke's tone is firm, an undercurrent of anger that he knows Shepard has never heard from him before.]

I asked him to leave.

[She's never heard him being pissed before, but past experiences with Jack's share of bitterness and hate curb the urge to lash out at him.

...So it did happen. A huge goddamn falling out. There had to be reasons for Luke sending the thief away like that; and if she's going to make sense of this, she needs them. She'll motion to the seat.]

Have a seat. Don't worry; this is staying off the record.

[He's already sitting.]

Off the record? Am I being recorded? [He's not joking around here]

If you're wondering why, its because he broke two promises, to myself and Adele. Serious ones.

No. S' just me continuing to hold onto habits the military drove into my head. [Not even a chuckle.]

...I haven't been around long enough, clearly...what promise?

The first was to everyone. He signed up for a mission without consulting anyone. That's an act of recklessness that could get him killed. I know you've signed up as well. I would, but I trust you'll get the job done. I'd just be a liability, with my mind so unfocused.

[He sighs heavily]

The second was a personal one, to myself and Adele.

I'll keep things together. Trust me. [...A beat, before she looks him over with more concern than she's ever had at this point.] And that was...?

Problems in my past. Lupin was Shifted to have experienced a live in my world, as a hacker. He saw something that occurred a few years back.

[Luke closes his eyes and goes on]

Remember how I told you the Force has a Light and a Dark Side? I was tempted, and fell to the Dark a few years ago. My sister pulled me out of it, but it wasn't a good time.

[A breathy sigh]

Obi-Wan doesn't know. He doesn't need to know. Ami and Adele know. And Lupin, because of that Shift. He swore he wouldn't mention it, and then he...just sort of threw it in my face, as justification for breaking his other promise.

[...That gets her to cradle her head. No words. Just...no words. So she focuses on everyone else.] How are the others handling it?

Ben's not saying anything, and Adele is furious with him for it. She...has issues with men in her life lying to her.

Thats about it. I'd have talk to you sooner, but I had duty at the clinic all day.

...Again, don't worry about it.

[She gets up, and rubs her temples. She's gotten her answers...but it wouldn't hurt to make sure Adele shared the same story later. The facts needed to be nice and straight, with a mess of this scale...]

If you need anything else, the door's open. It's the least I can do for a friend.

Just...what I shared? Keep that to yourself, alright? Its behind me, banished. But I'd rather not have people's confidence in me wavering.

[He stands and waves a hand, banishing her headache with a wave of soothing Force energy]

Least I could do. You need something, I'll be across the hall.

Your secret's safe with me, Luke. [That's all she needed to say. ...And when she feels that same throbbing going away, she smiles a little--nodding in thanks, and acknowledgment, before heading into her room.]
