thefinaljedi | 13th Transmission: A Year in Review. [Action/Voice]

[Early that morning, Luke rolls out of bed quietly so as not to wake Ami from her Force trance and set about his day. It was a strange thing, really, getting up in the morning and heading into a routine. The week of dreamless sleep had done him a world of good, keeping back nightmares from the draft. Things were getting better. A light breakfast follows, filling the house with smells if housemates are feeling peckish.

For the early part of the day the Jedi went through his typical morning routine. A run around the village, complete with some rather extreme Parkour has him breathing pretty heavy. He stops by the Bakery for a bit of brunch, and then makes his way to the Battle Dome for a bit of practice. Around lunchtime, he can be found at Seventh Heaven and the square before heading out to the Farmland to check on Hamal before heading back to town.

Sometime in the late afternoon, he sends out a Voice message:]

Afternoon everyone, and greetings to any New Feathers who may be listening. As always, I'd like to offer whatever assistance I can. If you need help with something, please let me know.

I've got a bit of a question for anyone who's willing to listen. Is there anything particularly special you do for the end of your first year here? I arrived one year ago, today. And to be honest it's the longest I've spent on a single planet in over a decade. I've got to admit it's a bit of an odd feeling for me.

I've also been curious about people's travel experiences. Have any of you visited other worlds? Or even other continents on your own homeworld? If you haven't, why not?

And on a final note, I regret to inform everyone that Doctor Eggman has returned home again. He was a great help with the farm, and a good friend.

Pinkie, I was wondering if you could help me with something. It involves baking, and I'm not very good at it.

[Then he returns shuts the feed.]

With settling in or finding your way around. Or even just talking. That helps sometimes, with getting used to stuff.

That's fairly normal for people who leave and return, from what I understand. Do you know how long you were here, or gone?

[Luke senses Obi-Wan's presence before he knocks, and before his hand can knock he's already opening the door. He gives Ben a look and nods to the bed where Ami's still asleep, indicating that he'd rather speak outside.

He steps out and heads towards the front door.]

Oh? What do you call a standard sim?

Isn't that dangerous, Lance?

You spent a lot of time thinking about your one-year anniversary here? That's coming up soon.

[She became a doctor, or so she keeps hearing in this odd recurring dream. Dance may or may not be a part of her future and she honestly doesn't know how to take it- habit, however, is far easier and far more comforting no matter the frustration it might cause. Adele, now seventeen to her memory, a little more lean, a little less rounded of face and eye drills the same fifteen motions in the dance sim she'd learned from Loki. Plane hardwood floor, mirrors and waist high barre on one side, a recording she'd worked out earlier this morning going in the corner.

The motions are clean. Crisp. The lines and gestures straight and sure end every step made with calculated grace. And yet when she's finished she sags back on her heels, swears under her breath and stalks back over to the record player to lift the needle and replay that segment of song. Back to the center of the room, the music picks up and once more through the motions. Again she sinks back on her heels when she's finished, frustrated. Again she stalks for the record player to go through it when she realizes she's not alone in the room and looks up.

At.

Luke Skywalker.]

[Luke, lost in his thoughts, had absentmindedly wandered into an unlocked room. It wasn't a common occurrence but given recent events he just...didn't pay that much attention to where he was going. Though the instant he realized he wasn't alone, he stopped short and looked at a young girl who was staring back at him.

He blinked and waved a hand in apology, turning to go.]

Sorry about that. Didn't mean to disturb you, miss...

[Except, something about her seemed familiar. A ripple in the Force...]

...wait. ADELE?!

...Yes?

[It came out more as a squeak than an actual word and she kicks herself for not remaining composed. Then again it wasn't like she was accustomed to seeing a science fiction hero staring at her- let alone knowing her name.]

[He blinks and turns, entering the room with a swish.]

By the Force, Adele. What happened? A kidnapping?

If by kidnapping you mean to say 'woke here wit no idea as to how I arrived' then yes. Though this would be the...third time it has happened to my memory.

[First when she was fifteen, though that dream had been days long, a repeat the next year, and now...well. This. It occurs to her that her tone could be seen as less than civil and she locks up, straightens out her shoulders and shoves all the frustrations her current limitations left her with aside in favor of painting a smile on her face and not squealing like a child.]

I. We. I know you?

[So eloquent.]

Third time?!

[Luke's brow furrows in concern, and he regards her with a tired look. He'd really, REALLY been slipping if she'd been kidnapped without him feeling it.

Then, her question hits him, and he blinks.]

Um, yes? You're a good friend. One of the best I have here. Do you not remember?

[She takes a half step back at that, managing to muffle a squeak with her hand.]

I. yes. Though here it seems to have only been a day since I was here last. I think it is a question of different points of view concerning time? To everyone here it is but a day, to me it feels as though it has been a year. And this would be my third visit here in my memory, the first was when I was fifteen, the second sixteen, etc.

[Good friend. With Luke Skywalker.

Loki's a lying jerk. Clearly she has the best taste in friends and is an amazing woman when she gets older.]

Really? I. No, I do not remember. I'm sorry.

[Luke's eyes widen and he nods in understanding. This was another experiment, a shift. He'd seen children turned to adults and adults to children. Perhaps this was some sort of...aging up experiment. It seemed to fit the pattern.

He just nods, and he can't help but raise an eyebrow at the feelings he's getting from her.]

That's a shame. That you can't remember it, I mean. I assure you, it's quite true though. You've been a good friend. Like a sister, to be honest.

We were a closed country until very recently and foreigners were not allowed except at certain ports.

While the government now recognizes foreign travel, that would not stop your fellow countrymen from wishing to end your life upon your return.

A mix of hand to hand and shooting would be normal for me. Plenty of armed targets. Aiming for efficiency and speed.

[Ah yes, he can understand why Luke is confused now. After experiencing the draft and hearing what other people's worlds are like, it makes sense.]

Actually, my world remains largely very safe.

Only as much as you have. As Fujiko said, we both travel a lot. This is the longest that either of us have stayed in a single location.

Really? Why was your country so closed off? And...why the trouble with the other people?

Ahhh, and what sort of targets? Just regular guys?

Is that so? I mean, I guess with a society like that war and things are relatively unnecessary, but even just getting injured. A bad fall, things like that. Are children prepared for that? Or supplies?

[Pardon him, he grew up on a world where there's no surface water]

It's the same for me, you know. Thirteen years of moving around is a long time.

I do know. That's why it's something that stands out.

...what kind of thing were you thinking about doing for today?

For the moment. That's what I'm used to. Think I'm going to have to switch it up soon though. Too many weird things coming up for me to stick with that.
