[Early that morning, Luke rolls out of bed quietly so as not to wake Ami from her Force trance and set about his day. It was a strange thing, really, getting up in the morning and heading into a routine. The week of dreamless sleep had done him a world of good, keeping back nightmares from the draft. Things were getting better. A light breakfast follows, filling the house with smells if housemates are feeling peckish.

For the early part of the day the Jedi went through his typical morning routine. A run around the village, complete with some rather extreme Parkour has him breathing pretty heavy. He stops by the Bakery for a bit of brunch, and then makes his way to the Battle Dome for a bit of practice. Around lunchtime, he can be found at Seventh Heaven and the square before heading out to the Farmland to check on Hamal before heading back to town.

Sometime in the late afternoon, he sends out a Voice message:]

Afternoon everyone, and greetings to any New Feathers who may be listening. As always, I'd like to offer whatever assistance I can. If you need help with something, please let me know.

I've got a bit of a question for anyone who's willing to listen. Is there anything particularly special you do for the end of your first year here? I arrived one year ago, today. And to be honest it's the longest I've spent on a single planet in over a decade. I've got to admit it's a bit of an odd feeling for me.

I've also been curious about people's travel experiences. Have any of you visited other worlds? Or even other continents on your own homeworld? If you haven't, why not?

And on a final note, I regret to inform everyone that Doctor Eggman has returned home again. He was a great help with the farm, and a good friend.

Pinkie, I was wondering if you could help me with something. It involves baking, and I'm not very good at it.

[Then he returns shuts the feed.]

In my reality? Yes, there's a center point to my galaxy, and a center to the universe as well. Of course, this is just me trying to put ideas into place, figure out more about the world I'm stuck in, but it's something that makes sense with my world view.

Oh, so have you visited your center point?

I've been as close as one can get to the Galactic center without dying, yes. The universal center would take thousands of years to reach.

Yeah? [Eat your gumbo. Or order something? Rin... a bit lost from the thought of a year, is going to busy himself with rummaging behind the counter again]

[Pardon her, Luke, but Syre is just going to stare.]

[Her voice is filled with awe and gratitude and so much happiness.]

It's just the way she's lived - the only one she feels she can rely on is herself, in this sort of situation. We can only make guesses at what it is she's truly dealing with.

[Luke takes all of that in stride, betraying no emotion]

Any idea how she died?

Yea. I move around a lot because of the war. Oh, say, can I get some water?

[Luke keeps eating the gumbo, because it isn't bad at all]

[There are no words that could describe this moment for her.]

[Syre silently runs a finger along the case, thumbs through the first few pages of the book, before beaming oh-so-thankfully at Luke.]

It's no trouble, really. I'll always be here to help.

Well, regardless, it meant something to me.

[He leans back in his seat and fixes Syre with a long look]

A lot.

[Syre doesn't have to ask why; it's not hard to read, from his words and his expression, that he holds Ami in high regard.]

I see. [She bows her head knowingly, silent a moment before she speaks up again.] She is a very fortunate woman, to have someone that cares for her so.

Perhaps we can arrange a little get-together, when the two of you are 100% again? [A pause, and then, with a sly smile:] It would certainly make up for leaving Spock and I to our own devices on our... previous arrangement.

[High regard doesn't even scratch the surface, Syre, but he nods in admission.]

[Of course, at her cheeky smile, he replies with a weak one of his own, the somber face breaking.]

I figured that would be better than having two other people nosing into your business. I take it the date went well?

Someone killed her, but we don't know who or why, and she doesn't remember, herself. It happened so quietly that the truth of the matter wasn't immediately realized, and there isn't even a guarantee that the person who did it is still in the enclosure... it was quite a few months ago now. Late March, I'd say.

By the Force...

[He shook his head, clearly worried]

So, you think this phantom is tired to that incident? A death penalty?

It's not a death penalty. It's... like an obsession, a fear, that was given a monstrous form from her bits and pieces of recollection. Except she's not scared of it, exactly; it exists on a plane where she feels more equipped to fight it, with her magic back. It's not like anything you can find in nature - and believe me, I've looked.

Have you tried addressing this with anyone else? She clearly needs some sort of help. She's just a kid, and if this...obsession is driving her to attack people? Then it needs to be stopped.

[Are they talking about the same thing? For a moment she wonders.]

Yes, I've talked to a few others. However, you have to realize that she's not just a child, and she's far too stubborn to accept proper help. I don't believe she's made any moves against others lately... I haven't heard of any incidents, but if too many people get involved, I'm worried if that may do more harm than good for her.

I spoke to a man named Wolfwood, and there were a few other people I've heard about being attacked by a cat, or by her, as well.

[He raises an eyebrow]

That was shortly before the draft, though. I recognize that she's no ordinary child, but that doesn't really change the fact that she's young, and there's something driving her to be...unbalanced. She's got power enough to endanger others.

[He pauses, worry flickering across his features.]

Just so we're clear I'm not saying that we go hunting for her, or hurt her. But if we can, we need to try and find a way to calm her down before something worse happens.

[She shakes her head a little. She knows Luke isn't quite right, but then again, would it really help Katie if she were to give all her secrets? Trust was one of the most difficult things to obtain with her.]

She's aware that people have caught on to her involvement in hurting others, so she may be trying to avoid people to prevent that while she attends to her business. She needs to know that there are people she can trust, who won't force their will upon her. That might be why she had attacked Wolfwood, if that is what being a 'priest' represented to her. A threat to her magic, and existence...

Right, she explained some of that to me herself. She...seems oddly at peace with me, because of those films. I know promises mean a lot to her too.

[He shrugs, not really knowing what else to think]

They do. [Raine finds herself thinking of that metaphor with the cats and the bells, and the promise on the roof.]

She has that familiarity with you, but I wouldn't push it too far.

I hadn't planned on it. It's usually her that brings it up anyway.

[He laughs a bit at the thought]

What do you think is best then?

... Honestly, I don't know. I want to be able to reach the little girl that I know is still there, but... the only way I can think of to do that is drastic, and won't help at all with gaining her trust.
