13th Transmission: A Year in Review. [Action/Voice]

[Early that morning, Luke rolls out of bed quietly so as not to wake Ami from her Force trance and set about his day. It was a strange thing, really, getting up in the morning and heading into a routine. The week of dreamless sleep had done him a world of good, keeping back nightmares from the draft. Things were getting better. A light breakfast follows, filling the house with smells if housemates are feeling peckish.

For the early part of the day the Jedi went through his typical morning routine. A run around the village, complete with some rather extreme Parkour has him breathing pretty heavy. He stops by the Bakery for a bit of brunch, and then makes his way to the Battle Dome for a bit of practice. Around lunchtime, he can be found at Seventh Heaven and the square before heading out to the Farmland to check on Hamal before heading back to town.

Sometime in the late afternoon, he sends out a Voice message:]

Afternoon everyone, and greetings to any New Feathers who may be listening. As always, I'd like to offer whatever assistance I can. If you need help with something, please let me know.

I've got a bit of a question for anyone who's willing to listen. Is there anything particularly special you do for the end of your first year here? I arrived one year ago, today. And to be honest it's the longest I've spent on a single planet in over a decade. I've got to admit it's a bit of an odd feeling for me.

I've also been curious about people's travel experiences. Have any of you visited other worlds? Or even other continents on your own homeworld? If you haven't, why not?

And on a final note, I regret to inform everyone that Doctor Eggman has returned home again. He was a great help with the farm, and a good friend.

Adele, I haven't heard from you since we got back. Are you doing well? I've been worried.

Syre, I wanted to thank you for the notes you left a few weeks ago, and I've got something for you as a token of my appreciation. I can bring it by your apartment, or we can meet somewhere.

[Filtered to Pinkie Pie]

Pinkie, I was wondering if you could help me with something. It involves baking, and I'm not very good at it.

[Then he returns shuts the feed.]

(OOC: If you want to run into Luke somewhere, go for it. He'll be all over town today)

All there was for her to do was blush, just a bit, and dip into a bow. It was getting a little easier to look at Luke and not see someone from the films but, well. She was still a little in awe.

"I suppose that means I do not neglect it entirely as time goes on. I wonder if I still practice ballroom as well."

"No, you don't. There have been plenty of opportunities for you to dance in a ballroom setting here. I've seen you, and danced with you. It's pretty obvious that you still keep up with it," Luke answered quickly as he stood and crossed the room.

"Would you care to practice?"

Please don't apologize. I like talking about Psynergy, it's just difficult to explain something that no one else can really see or feel. [Until it becomes water, ice, or actual healing. They see those. Surprise ice is a nice battle tactic.]

May I ask about your ideas?

Well, you know how you can touch your Psynergy here, and I can feel the Force? And other people can touch powers unique to their world here?

I was wondering if there was an explanation, and I started thinking. Everyone who has powers like that explains them in the same way. But we're all from different realities.

[He pauses, trying to put it into simpler words without Galactic terminology]

It occurred to me that perhaps this world is a sort of...nexus? A central point for all realities.

There's a chowder back there, of course some miso, also I'm trying out a gumbo - don't ask - but uh, I could make something else just in a small pan if you wanted to wait and don't want any of those.

Miso sounds good, but if you want a guinea pig for...gumbo I'm willing to give it a shot.

Don't worry, it's a good thing, mm?

As that Shakespeare line goes, some men seek greatness, and others have it thrust upon them.

Yea, I've been doing the same. I've run into Kain and Steve, at least.

[He looks around himself, sighing heavily]

And I've been trying to find Katie. I haven't seen her since before the draft. You haven't seen a kid with dark hair and light eyes running around, have you?

"Really? That's...wonderful. It seems as though this place, as strange as it is, has some benefits." Her older self has made friends of her childhood heroes, and seemed to be at least moderately respected.

At the offer she brightened considerably and fell into the basic waltz position, one arm extended to Luke. "I would, if you do not mind it."

"It does. Many benefits if truth be told," Luke smiled down wistfully as he took her arm and began to lead the dance. All this heartache, all this strangeness, and so much worry but at least he had friends like Adele. He'd met his father and Obi-Wan, he'd been exposed to many fascinating aspects of other worlds, and he'd even spent time with the greatest Jedi who ever lift.

And above all that? Ami.

"Benefits more numerous than all the stars in the Galaxy, if you know where to look."

I suppose so.

[Still sounds awkward]

Like the middle of a wheel?

[She has other metaphors but they don't seem to fit as well as this one did.]

I suppose, but if a world like this one is the thing that connects everyone together, it's a bit...worrisome. Maybe that's just a part of how "magic" things work no matter what world it belongs to?

Yes, exactly. Or probably more accurately the center of a sphere.

[Luke pauses, thinking over her statement]

It's possible. The thought that I originally had was that because all these forms of 'magic' are so similar. Perhaps there is some sort of...wells in the middle of this great sphere and magic seeps in to every reality.

That would explain how we can tap into them all here, and how they're all so similar.

"Then it cannot be quite so bad." She didn't know how long her older self has been here, honestly? She has yet to ask. Part of her is a little afraid- for her to have made such an impression for good or ill on so many implied that she had been here for quite awhile. It was easier for her not to think on it, or if she did? To think on the positive points of having been here.

It's an easy dance, easier still to follow along with Luke with a bright smile. She was just a touch giddy. "My luck must have improved if I've found a friend in you."

If you wanna try the salsa next time, lemme know and I'll you some of that too.

Oh yeah? We have some pretty unique animals too and a whole lotta monsters to boot. [Chocobo's, Green Dragons and Wraiths, oh my!]

But anyway, food is food right? It must be a new thing for you to try foods from other people's worlds every time. And tell me more about these creatures I haven't heard of?

But if that's true, shouldn't I be able to, um, cast the spells of your Force as well as Psynergy?

Maybe you are, but you perceive it differently?

Sure.

[Luke nods]

Well what sort of creatures might you want to know about? It's a big galaxy.

Great!

Anything! You tell me about something from your world and I'll tell you something about mine.

Alright, sure. In my world we don't have dragons, we have beasts called Krayt Dragons that are the size of mountains. They're really aggressive reptiles that live on my homeworld, Tatooine.

--Really, you're willing?! [He's beaming. Yes, beaming] I might actually do it right the first time for that woman if I got you testing it!

[Even if gumbo wasn't actually one of her challenges. That's not her South's cooking, it's Louisiana. But he saw it in a book and now he feels proud to have attempted]

Yea, sure. The worst that could happen is it doesn't taste good, so you have to bring me some miso, right?

[He laughs, but smiles right back]

I'll give it a shot, especially if your trying to impress some girl.

Ah... [Hearing him mention Katie is a little surprising.] I didn't realize you knew her, but I suppose she does have her ways of getting around. She's one of my students, but she hasn't been attending due to her circumstances. I have been keeping an eye out for her as well.

Yes, I know her. She's...actually one of the first people I met here. She's rather enamored with a series of films in her world that I'm part of.

[He shakes his head, lowering his voice]

What do you know about her circumstances? She's attacked people, and that's starting to worry me.

Whoa. Where I come from, there's three different types of dragons and they're super nasty. Thankfully, they only live on certain islands back home and they're aren't many of them but they're a problem when you run into them. Especially the Ruby Dragons because they've got a really short temper. There's Blue Dragons and Hexadragons as well but again, they're not all that common and I'm really glad for that.

Ever heard of a Behemoth? They're a like a gigantic version of a really ill-tempered dog but they're purple and they're horns pack a real wallop. That's definitely one monster you shouldn't take by the horns.
