[Luke Skywalker has had an eventful few weeks, what with Anakin arriving, and breaking the news to his father about his rather dark future, not to mention the New Feather cycle. He'd patrolled the woods for newcomers, and spent many afternoons introducing himself to and attempting to help New Feathers get adjusted to life in Luceti. Not to mention the recent the blank...day from the last weekend.

That was beginning to be a common theme, blank days in his memory, and it was starting to be more than mildly disconcerting. Luke was genuinely starting to get angry at having his mind wiped by the Malnosso. To alleviate some of this, Luke decided that today would probably be an excellent day for exercise, and perhaps finding someone to train with. He'd talked to some people in the past about working on Jedi philosophy, martial training, and even meditative practice but due to the New Feather cycle, Anakin, and the confusion regarding the attack on the Battle Dome things had just not worked out.

He sends out a message to the village in Video form during the morning, before stepping outside to begin his own practice]

Good morning Luceti. I trust this morning finds you all well. I have a bit of a request. I would like to find someone to help me train today. Its been a while since I've had anyone to spar with, and equally as long since I've had an exercise partner. If anyone is interested, please contact me. I will be around Community House Five, so if you'd prefer, please stop by.

Moreover, if anyone is interested, I feel like today is a fine day for a hike and would love company.

[After his morning, he heads about his business in the village, stopping by the shops to pick up a few odds and ends like nutrient bars, a travelling pack, and some canteens.

Following this, he begins to make preparations for a rather lengthy hike, planning on heading out into the woods and just walking until he feels like its time to turn around. Why? Because he knows that he needs to relax and take time to smell the Kibo. Even if there aren't any Kibo flowers here. All the little things are starting to build up, and he can ill afford a tantrum of his own, having just prevented Anakin's explosion the previous week.

Its a fine spring day, and he does hope that someone will join him on his walk]

There are always things we can teach one another. Combat training alone isn't the only thing we can share. Never downplay your own wisdom, Mercury. You are impressively quick to adapt. Very few non-Force users are capable of using a lightsaber to block blaster bolts.

[She brushes off the compliment by habit.]

It's similar to the techniques of a sword. That's all.

Ah, good point. Still, he might find other uses here? If nothing else, having someone who's guaranteed not to be affected by these experiments would be a significant help.

Are machines unaffected by shifts? Threepio and Artoo both have distinct personalities and quirks, as well as their own wills. We tend to consider them less machines and more friends.

Similar, but I've seen very few swords that wouldn't simply melt or shatter when used against a blaster. I realize the Third Party doesn't exactly have access to that level of technology, but the applications of it are still useful.

[Rydia shrugs.]

I'm no expert on machines, but they could be like Toothless, for example. He doesn't have the wings we do, and these shifts and whatnot don't really affect him the way they do us. Some things will if they affect the area itself, as when we had the moon descending on our village, but otherwise...not really.

[The fact that she couldn't find him since this morning is a little worrying, but she assumes he's probably flying about with Hiccup.]

Toothless? Is that some sort of machine?

[Yuriko tries her best to change the picture in her mind to a blank canvas, forcing away all the images and memories flowing through her mind. If she can get Luke to see only nothingness inside her, then it's a start, right?]

[She shakes her head.]

No, he's a dragon companion of a housemate. A Night Fury, I think Hiccup said. He's called Toothless because his teeth retract.

A dragon? Aren't those enormous? In my world, a Krayt Dragon can devour most starfighters whole, to say nothing of people.

[Luke actually does feel the image start to waver and shift, some of the images disappearing]

Its starting, Yuriko. You're doing fine, just keep concentrating.

Everything at our disposal is useful. We can find new applications for it as well.

[Rydia shakes her head.]

He's big enough to ride, but he's hardly that size. Though him living in the house proper doesn't work, so he stays in the backyard or on the roof. Stop by my place sometime, and I'll have Hiccup introduce you to him.

Sure. I don't believe I've met Hiccup either. Thats quite the name.

Isn't it? But it's not just him; I guess most if not all of his people have such strange names. Regardless, he's one of the kindest people I've met, and a true friend.

I couldn't agree more. Lets meet more regularly then, once a week at least, provided there aren't dangerous or threatening situations? I think you could become quite proficient with lightsabers. I meant what I said before. There's potential for great power there, and a lightsaber is vastly superior to even the most enchanted of swords.

[She is fond of her sword, a weapon she chose in the past and uses to this day, but she doesn't contradict Luke, and only nods.]

I'm agreeable to that.

I'd also like to be able to train with my powers.

[Under most circumstances, Luke would agree that familiar is better. But a lightsaber could cut through nearly any substance in any known universe, not to mention was much easier to conceal. And anyone with knowledge of Mercury would find themselves in for quite a shock should she draw the weapon of a Jedi Knight]

Of course. That's the next step, learning to interweave your powers into hand to hand. The lightsaber can turn aside most forms of energy, even redirecting them back at a foe.

That I won't argue with. I've met some strange individuals here, but they've become good friends.

In that sense, it's similar to my sword. [This was, of course, something of a relief; it meant she believed she'd be able to learn the basics well, with effort.]

Do I count as both? Or is the latter presumptuous?

The primary difference between your sword and a lightsaber is really the cutting capacity. Once you master the basics, you'll be much better prepared to deal with others who wield similar weapons. [He doesn't mention names, but were Anakin to lose it, or Palpatine to appear, he wouldn't trust her sword to hold up under a lightsaber strike. Such was the unnatural might of a Sith]

You are hardly strange. But you are a good friend, and I appreciate your company.

[He cannot help but laugh now]

[The Spartan notices this. Luke's using his lower height as an advantage. What surprises her is how fast he is -- as fast as her, if not more.

She has to change this. As Luke turns more aggressive, she tries to adopt more defensive movements to push him back and retreat a little to regain her range -- and should that succeed, keep her stance spread in an offensive to keep him at bay.]

My sword isn't a normal sword. It's capable of going against other energy-based and magical weapons.
