[He shrugs, still smiling. The lessening of tension in Gambit isn't unnoticed, either. It's good, knowing that he's done something for someone.]

Something of an understatement. I don't think there are many people that really know just how bad it can be out there.

[He shrugs, sipping more cocoa.]

But it's as much our war as theirs.

Only 'cause we got drafted into this mess. Ain't even gettin' paid this time 'round either. Experiments 'nd cannon fodder. I never had a likin' to be either.

Ah well, could be worse. Think it be a breeze for ya, they be lackin' some of ya tech 'nd powers from ya world.

Well, we were taken by the world, yes. That's just our fate, and we have to deal with it. But if the Malnosso are overrun, we're as dead as they are.

[Luke lets out a hoarse, almost bitter laugh.]

The Third Party is dangerous enough. Shifting is a dangerously unpredictable ability and they're very good at it. Granted, a blaster and a lightsaber far outstrip any weapons they have, but they're able to nullify my power, or my technology, more often than not.

Hear dyin' be a little harder to do here. Not that I plan on tryin' it out, mind ya.

[Remy grinned at the laugh, appreciating Luke's humour towards this all.] Now, can't expect life to be too easy now, hein? This ain't some holiday or 'nythin' now.

That's half true, as far as the Third Party is concerned.

[Luke's voice quiets slightly, his voice losing some of the mirth.]

They've got some sort of sacrificial ritual that keeps people from coming back. So, as far as their concerned, you really don't want to get captured by them. Even the Malnosso will kill themselves over being captured.

Provided my powers ain't gone, that at least easy to deal with. [The idea of being a suicide bomber held no appeal to him, but at least it was a fast way out. Better to go out in a boom and come back a week or so later than not come back at all.]

Not somethin' I really want to find out first hand. Though gotta say, be interested to see ya in action, provided ya weapons have made it to this world.

[Luke nods grimly, and declines to comment on the morbidity of the subject. It's something he's contemplated, and one of a few reasons he's glad he has a thermal detonator.]

If you mean lightsabers, I do.

...I could make big money back home if I could take a couple of those back. [Whether it was smart to introduce such a weapon into his world was another story.] Signed of course, not that 'nyone would believe ya be real 'nd all. [Remy offered a grin to Luke as he drained the last of his drink from the bottle it was in, trying to lighten the mood once again.]

Signatures I have no problem with, but I'd be a little reticent to send a lightsaber into another world. [Luke laughed and finished his drink as well.]

Unless we established some sort of inter-reality gateway, of course.

In a world where ya got people who can melt someone's face off by only thinkin' 'bout it? Yeah, don't think lightsabers be the biggest worry from my world. Doubt it would help it, but ain't that much trouble.

Oh, there are plenty of people who can do that sort of thing where I'm from. Lightsabers are really insignificant next to the power of the Force, but they do carry a certain weight of their own.

[He already mangled a tree in the forest before he made a move to reach out to Luke. While the poor tree had to feel the brunt of his anger, it at least helped him calm down a bit first.

Also he wasn't sure what he would do in person, so speaking to Luke this way seemed ... safer.

Especially after what he almost did to Rei. The darkness threatened to overtake him and he had almost crushed that fine line of being angry and wanting to completely crush that girl.

He couldn't risk the same with his family. ... Not right now. The visions still a swirling rage of emotions in his mind.]

Luke. We need to talk.

[Luke is a little slow to respond, as the sheer emotion he's sensing from the other man is more than slightly obvious. It's a beacon to him in the Force, and it makes it plain to Luke that he's finally been told about his possible future.

He quickly filters it so their conversation can't be monitored by Padme or other gawkers.]

Of course, Anakin.

[Best to let the other man broach the question. He learned that the hard way last time...]

[He is desperately trying to keep his mind settled and isn't really sure if not seeing Luke's face is helping or hindering him. It probably didn't matter either way though.]

Is it true? Do not lie to me.

[He speaks quickly not even bothering to consider if Luke would even have any idea what he means. Anakin just assumes he does since it is the only topic his own mind is focused on at the moment.]

[Luke's voice turns somewhat distant, cool, and collected.]

I would rather discuss this in person. The Malnosso monitor this network.

That wouldn't be a good idea. You don't know what I might do.

[Not that Anakin doubts Luke's skills, he just doesn't want to be the one responsible for anything bad happening.]

I trust you, Anakin. It'll be alright.

[It's a simple thing to say, but Luke's voice is firm, full of conviction.]

Your trust might be misplaced. But all right. I'm in the forest.

[So Luke can see what he did to the tree and understand why this is a bad idea.]

[Luke doesn't say another word, he just heads out the door and out into the forest. It's a matter of moments before he's zeroed in on Anakin's presence and he approaches with loud, steady footfalls. No point in surprising the man.]

Anakin.

[Which is probably good thing as Anakin turns sharply at Luke's approach. He does not move from where he is standing though, he is unsure if could stop himself after making so much as a single step.]

I want the full truth. Tell me everything.

[It's quick and to the point and he just stares at Luke. Hurting his son is the last thing he wants, but his conflict over the thought of possibly being lied to also created a shadow over him.]

[Luke nods and spreads his hands wide, pausing a moment before he speaks.]

I'll start at the beginning then. The real beginning, and I will be as thorough as I can. This may take some time.

[He begins with the simplest truths]

Before you were taken off Tatooine by Master Qui-Gon Jinn. The conflict between the Naboo and the Trade Federation had been all a manipulation by the Sith. I'm sure you know that. What you don't know is that there was Sith within the Senate, manipulating it from the inside, right under the Council's nose.

[Luke's voice suddenly turns very hard, his jaw setting.]

The Sith, the one you call Darth Sidious? Is Chancellor Palpatine. I'm aware of the fact that he's been very kind to you, perhaps even overly so, but I'm afraid he was trying to manipulate you as well. A few days before I was born, he revealed himself as a Sith to you. He presented himself in a benevolent way, claiming to have a way to save Padme from some dark future, a future you'd seen in visions. You became his apprentice, and took on a new name.

[Reaching onto his belt, Luke unclipped a lightsaber and tossed it on the ground at Anakin's feet. The crystal inside would clearly resonate with him, though...perhaps like a dark mirror.]

He named you Darth Vader.

No ... no ... it can't.

[Anakin's first reaction was the same as with Rei: denial. But this lined up with the visions he saw. The death, the destruction, all the pain and hate.

Palpatine ... he betrayed him?

His emotions swell up into a boiling anger -- at Palpatine, at the Jedi, ... at himself. At everyone.

The lightsaber at his feet made it worse. He didn't know when he had stopped looking at Luke.

Slowly his legs give out on him and he slides to the ground, still staring at the lightsaber.]

I killed them all. I slaughtered them. I ... your mother ... Padme she ...

[Luke stood there impassively, letting Anakin's anger swell up around him and break on the wall of his own calm confidence. When Anakin hit the ground, he took a seat not far away, legs folded in front of him in a relaxed posture. Looking right at his father, he held out a hand.]

You were betrayed. Palpatine used your fear of loss against you. But he'd been orchestrating things from behind the scenes for a long time. The Clone Troopers used during the Clone Wars had a hidden command hardcoded into their DNA. A switch, as it were. When Palpatine flipped it, the clones turned on their Jedi allies and murdered them. There were few survivors.

[He nods at the lightsaber.]

You dueled with Obi-Wan, and he defeated you. Palpatine recovered your body and replaced much of it with a cybernetic life-support system that kept you alive. And for twenty years you were his apprentice and enforcer.

[He closes his eyes a moment, still a model of perfect calm, despite the emotions surging in Anakin and in himself.]

Padme. Mother. She died in childbirth. Obi-Wan, Master Yoda, and Senator Bail Organa decided that Leia and I should be hidden away so that Palpatine could not find us. I was given to Owen and Beru Lars, and Obi-Wan stayed close by to keep an eye on them. Senator Organa raised Leia as his own daughter. While this happened, Palpatine consolidated his power, declared himself Emperor, outlawed the Jedi, and steeped the Galaxy in darkness.

Then, roughly fifteen years later, a rebellion began. Small at first, but it grew. Leia and I joined, and I was trained by both Obi-Wan and Master Yoda.

[Luke smiles grimly and holds up his right hand, peeling back the glove to reveal the synthskin beneath. He's being as thorough as possible, not holding back any details, because Anakin does deserve to know.]

We fought, and you defeated me. I managed to escape, though you took my hand. That was when I learned you were my father. And a year later, things changed again. I completed my training to be a Jedi, and confronted both you and Palpatine on a battle station above the forest moon of Endor. We fought again, and I...managed to break the hold Palpatine had over you. He lashed out at me with the Force, nearly killed me, but you intervened and threw him down a reactor shaft.

You died shortly after that, wounds from Palpatine's power having damaged your life support system. But you died a hero, you saved my life, you put an end to Palpatine's power and put the Galaxy on a path of peace and recovery.
